... or on trains (or in train stations) particularly enjoyable like I do?

Throwing up another one along the train theme:

Having traveled on the Transsiberian automatically meant I had to watch it and it turned out to be a surprisingly good film.

Switching gears for a second, does anybody find movies that take place in subways or on trains (or in train stations) particularly enjoyable like I do? (Freudians can feel free draw their own conclusions about that... >:D)

In my first post in this thread, I mentioned Source Code, which is a pretty good movie that does take place primarily on a train. Don't read too much on IMDB unless you want spoilers that will ruin your movie watching experience. If you liked Inception, you'll probably like this one, too.

@App - Wow! That looks very cool. Can't believe I missed that when it came around. :)

Something I'd like to suggest is a weird little B&W 1966 movie by John Frankenheimer starring Rock Hudson called Seconds.

seconds.jpg

Suppose you received a message from a dead friend telling you there was a way to start your adult life over - except this time around you'd get to do it in style. How high a price tag would you be willing to to pay for a crack at something like that? And what would you do if it turned out you could afford it?

MLoFiaS_Seconds-1966-650.jpg

Seconds is one of those quietly chilling movies (like Videodrome) that doesn't hit you right away. It's only after a day or two when you find yourself still thinking about it that the creepiness of the story becomes fully manifest.

Skip IMDB if you don't want too much of a spoiler. Seconds is a much more eerie movie experience if you just go into it cold.

That's one of those movies that I just assume that people in technical fields have seen, along with Sneakers and Office Space.

EDIT: No, it's not what I thought it was... I'm going to have to take a look at that one!

Danes, Norwegians and certain Eastern Europeans will know what this 12½ minutes music video is about. To the rest of you I must tell, it is not "a music video", but a clip from the last part of the most watched Danish movie ever. Denmark has only about 6 million people, but this film has been watched more than 1.2 million times in the movie theaters just in Denmark, plus the many times in the other countries. To my knowledge it has never been translated into or sub-titled in English, because it is a comedy of a certain "Scandinavian sense of humor" kind; 1976 Denmark. But speaking of language, you don't need to understand the few words that were spoken during the music in this clip.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olsen_Gang

The plot is to break trough several walls and into the last room under the Royal Theater's stage, in order to get to the lift/elevator => up to a loge/lounge => to steel the suitcase,  while the tired orchestra is playing the overture to Kuhlau's Elverhøj, and while the crowd (and the guards!) during the end of the overture has to rise and salute the king (the guards used to be sitting on the two suitcases in mention).

a recent rerun made me remember yet another favourite of mine:
Robert Altman's Gosford Park ♥ In my mind it is within Top 50.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0280707/
http://en.wikipedia....rg/wiki/Gosford_Park

You may need to love the classic British understatement culture, to fully appreciate this genre. Some people have said the film isn't funny. However, when I re-saw it last week I was literally ROTFL, when the policeman (played by Stephen Fry) again and again tried to introduce himself; it was just so hilarious! I am big fan of British humour on film and tv, and Gosford Park is not at all boring - even though Robert Altman is an American....

Not out yet, but this one looks promising. Due for release in August 2013 and also available for IMAX viewing if you're into seeing things on the really big screen. Could be good. It's called Elysium. Class warfare in a not-too-distant dystopian future:

Just watched In Bruges for the second time - it's a really great film.

Just noticed 40hz wrote about it here - there may be a couple of mini-spoilers there (I prefer knowing as little as possible when I see a movie) but if I enjoy a movie as much second time round, it's gotta be good ;-)

Stephen Fry is definitely hilarious in Gosford Park but the movie is so much more than humor. Altman has a gift for building little worlds out of characters which are so engrossing the plot is almost irrelevant. Much like my other favorite Altman movie, MASH, it's almost disappointing because I could watch another hour of those people doing whatever in that little world.

I'd add the 1990 psychological thriller Jacob's Ladder to the list.

I'll avoid any discussion to keep the "go in cold" crowd happy. :P

I saw the release AND the director's cut of that one.  IIRC, the director's cut was much more cathartic than the release, but didn't leave you with as many loose ends to chew on.

Which can be the funnest part of any WTF movie.

Any attempt at explaining it would take longer than watching the movie.

+1! Awesome flick.

To which I'll also add the suggestion: High Plains Drifter. Clint's very own Spaghetti Western.
