I tried running some existing cody images through style-transfer utilizing programs/services (e.g. deepart.io) to get things like:

Re adding of relevant text, it might be best to add the text to the image first, and then run it through that 'style-transfer' programme: i.e. cant think of a font that would look good on top of an image like that (but then I'm not a designer -- others may think different/better).

only problem is the resolution is very low -- @ 300dpi, that images is ~ 65mm*50mm (~2.5"x2")
Not sure what resolution they use for the mugs, but dont think that would be enough.

The original image was about 800x600 and the code I used was from:

It was the highest resolution I found. Happy to try other ones (as well as adding other text before running images through the process), but getting a result will likely take longer (plus some minor code tweaking may be necessary).

Okay, here's an "it". It's just last year's with 8 replacing 7. Other reasonable changes can also be done, I'm sure, but if you need me to be Leonardo da Vinci you're going to be disappointed. Again.

...having uploaded the image, the transparent background looks (to me, anyway) grey when expanded. It SHOULD be transparent in real life but if it doesn't work that way and you'd rather a white background, please let me know.

that easy these days: expand one and use the arrow button to show the other (a sort of a 'watermark' shows on the second one).

I love the Cody (and like the background), but find the black text very heavy: wondering what it might look like if you used the brown of the beak outline (or a darker version of same) for the text ?

When its printed on a white mug, it might look nicer with a thin border around the whole thing --just my guess.

I did take a moment to process it given the wording is different, but I can see getting all of the text to fit is an issue, and having it just say "NEW APPS NEW YEAR" does not bother me personally.

You could make the font on the 'for the' smaller. Just bothers me from a grammatical perspective lol

Adding the bullets requires a reduction of the font size, which makes the text above very top heavy -- so I reduced size of text on top, but was it still seemed unbalanced. Then I got rid of caps (above) and was happier with it --
do you dislike the other suggestions?

My 2ct: I prefer the design with the all lowercase donationcoder.com name, and the dash-shaped bullets, like tomos showed above in reply #39 (On a round mug the round bullets I'd expect to look weird) If they have to be round, then the smaller size bullets seems the best alternative to me.

It's nice to finally see some more art in this thread.

And nicer to see the collaboration of people helping make improvements.

Admittedly this competition didn't get as much attention or entries as we had hoped, but mouser and I are discussing how to wrap things up so we can have a finalized alternative design for this year's NANY rewards.

I appreciate the designs by ewemoa (which was beautiful) and oblivion, but for me hamradio's would be the one I would choose for our alternate mug design..
I'd still like to see ewemoa's style used to make a mug (nany or otherwise), but it seems to me hamradio's is the one that is ready to go and would be the best option.
