The Free Videos Thread
« on: October 19, 2012, 08:42 AM »
Well, we've heard a few people talk about boycotting the mainstream media sources and all that, so it's probably about time for a thread dedicated to FREE VIDEOS and free sources of videos~! :D

Since YouTube is simply too large, it's probably best to single out videos there.

Here's an excellent documentary on a Canadian fellow who claims to have cured cancer with hemp oil - RUN FROM THE CURE:

http://www.youtube.c.../watch?v=0psJhQHk_GI

The video is free for distribution, and states that explicitly:

Screenshot - 2012-10-20 , 12_39_41 AM.png

The web site for the video is http://PhoenixTears.ca/ and has a video library with more free videos on curing cancer with hemp.

I dont really understand - isn't every video on youtube and or vimeo etc 'free' - that is, until it's taken down, or blocked (see below).

I unfortunately cant make any comment on the video cause I cant see the beggar (again below), but if f you're going to post a controversial video, I think it deserves an appropriate title ;)

Wasn't there a guy in Texas who claimed to have a cancer cure, and who the FDA tried to supress for years - there was a thread with a bit of discussion about him somewhere (found it).

Well, yes and no. I more or less meant "free" videos as in those that the producers put out there for free, as opposed to those that are purely commercial in nature, and if they are free, it's not the intent of the producer to have them available for free.

I put the title as the producer has it, with a description. Not sure what else I can do. It's their perogative to give it a name - not mine. ;)

Sorry that you couldn't view it. :( It's quite good.

Yep. He has a very different approach. A patentable one. :)

That film is also quite good. I have the DVD, and bought it for a family member with cancer... Unfortunately, it's basically impossible to tell someone with cancer that there's a cure. They'd rather have expensive poison injected and be bombarded with radiation until they die than try something that has worked for other people but that doesn't have the blessing of the high and mighty oncology department... Sigh...

I left out an important word there :-[
what I meant to say was that if you were going to post a controversial video, I think the thread deserves an appropriate (i.e. related) title.

Sorry for the confusion!

Ah - no - that wasn't my intent at all. My intent was to start a thread to post free videos in - videos that are free to watch and share. I just started with 1 video and 1 page with more. I wasn't trying to start a thread on cancer cures.

I know a few other people here know other sites and videos, and was hoping they'd jump in and post more free videos/films/documentaries/shows/etc.

That's what I meant here:

Well, we've heard a few people talk about boycotting the mainstream media sources and all that, so it's probably about time for a thread dedicated to FREE VIDEOS and free sources of videos~! :D

Here's a very fun YouTube channel:

http://www.youtube.com/user/Vihart

I expect that a few people have seen some of her videos. They're all about math in one way or another, and extremely entertaining.

In a new video she creates a hexaflexagon and fills it like a burrito, so it's "flex mex":

That video Ren was super -
it reminds me of this 'game' we made as kids with a sheet of paper:
you'd fold it so as you'd end up with ... imagine a wide cone, divided in four - it can be split/divided first one way then the other. There would be text written in all the hidden parts - the other person would have to choose, say, a colour, this would be spelled out (open/close/open-the-other-way/close/etc). Thumbs and index fingers underneath to manipulate. At the end a folded-over bit would be exposed with the answer to all your questions (or telling you something you didnt want to know).

Anyone know an actual name for that game? I mean how do you search for that...

We used to call it the Mystery Pyramid or Cootie Catcher in my neighborhood. (I still remember how to fold it too!) :D

Fortuneteller_mgx.svg.png

But I don't know what the "official" name for it is - if there actually is one. Google seems to think the consensus name for it is "folded paper fortune teller." It shows 299,000 hits on that search string. Shows some pretty cool templates for it too!

FWIW Wikipedia also calls it the Paper Fortune Teller.

Definitely!   One of the few pleasures of getting older is teaching a bit of "kid" culture to the next generation, and realizing - from the look on their faces - that some innocent wonder can still be found in this sad world.

Well, this one kind of surprised me a bit...

WARNING: I should warn that it is relatively graphic (though far from the most graphic out there), and not suitable for kids or those that haven't been sufficiently desensitized to human suffering. :P

I got an email from Vodo, and while I usually delete most, it caught my eye with an interesting title - "The Manifesto".

http://vodo.net/Manifesto

Screenshot - 2012-11-01 , 12_25_59 AM.png

The movie is about a serial killer, which was all I looked at before downloading it. Anyways, it was VERY different from what I was expecting.

Now, I'm not going to give any real spoilers, but just some general comments about the topic...

General stuff - don't read if you like complete surprises
The film is a mix of horror, conspiracy, gore (very mild gore), and black comedy. Just when you're being grossed out, you'll laugh yourself off your seat.

It has a lot of WTF?!? moments.

If you like gore/horror, you'll probably like this as well.

If you hate "conspiracy theorists", you'll probably like it.

That's because everyone loves this thread, and all flocked to the Vodo site and crashed it. Wow... Am I powerful or what? :P

Let's see if I can crash the movie site now~!

For those that like physics, "The Mechanical Universe" is a fantastic series:

http://www.learner.o...ources/series42.html

However...

Due to licensing agreements, online viewing of the videos for this resource is restricted to network connections in the United States and Canada.

So, you either need a VPN with a North American IP address, or, http://eztv.it/ . :) EZTV currently has the series being uploaded for torrenting.

This one is mostly for Renegade. Everybody else gets to exercise viewer discretion.

@Ren - man in an isolated cabin sharing a nasty meal with a demon as the world comes apart violently around him. Six minutes of Israeli weirdness entitled Eaten. QuietEarth summed it up perfectly as: Your WTF??? moment for the day. Enjoy!

Heheheh :D

Definitely a fun flick!

For others: To put it in perspective, it's definitely going to be too much for some people, but if you liked "Watch Alice Bleed", it's not that disturbing. Just in case anyone is iffy there. (Watch Alice Bleed is pretty disturbed.) The end of Eaten is really good.

I tripped across another very cool YouTube channel.

ABOUT YOUTUBE TRACKING: If you're signed in to YouTube, they do a BLOODY SPECTACULAR job of recommending videos. My front page on YouTube is PACKED with all kinds of good stuff. They track the crap out of you, but their recommendations are damn good. (And consider who that's coming from. ;) ) I just tripped across it through a recommendation, check out a video, liked it, and checked the channel.

The channel is from http://www.mises.org/, and from what I've seen so far is mostly about economics. I've only watched a few lectures so far, but they've been extremely good. Thanks to YouTube Downloader (YTD), I have 10 or 20 GB of lectures waiting for me. :) It'll be a while before I get to them all.

http://www.youtube.c...flow=grid&view=1

Screenshot - 2012-11-19 , 8_17_18 PM.pngThe Free Videos Thread

It's PACKED with TONNES of playlists.

The first playlist you can see there is "The Truth About War: A Revisionist Approach", and the first speaker in that series is Judge Andrew P. Napolitano~! (Yeah... That's the kind of guy that I think is a real rock star! For those that are not familiar with him, check him out. I know some people here would really like him. Lots of videos on YouTube with him.) Just finished downloading that playlist, so I'll be watching the Judge shortly.

Anyways... Fumbling through the site, I saw they have another site:

http://mises.tv/

And, they have a video called:

Authors Forum: Libertarian Anarchy: Against the State

Now, anytime I see words like "ANARCHY", you've got my attention~! :P ;D

Still haven't watched much, but c'mon... Stuff like anarchy? How could I NOT pass that on? :D
