Best Programming Beer
« on: February 09, 2006, 11:18 PM »
I recently started enjoying Sam Adams Black Lager.   It's a nice dark beer with a creamy foam and clean finish.  It will probably be my programming beer of choice for a while.  :drinksmiley:

Anyone else have a favorite?

Well...if I programmed, I would have to say Stella Artois (well chilled - from Belgium). It's really the only beer I enjoy drinking.

I'm a simple man, with simple taste.  Plus, I like decent taste at a cheap price.  So I just down loads of Budweiser.  But that's not until later in the vening, to get me to quit coding ;)

I'm a big fan of Bavarian -- which tastes very, very close to Heineken but for about half the price.  Unfortunately, I just can't find it up here.

As much as I enjoy a good cool pils, I don't drink any alcohol when I am coding. I tend to enjoy the beer too much, and that collides with my need to concentrate ;) :D

Just about anything from Belgium, Ireland, England or Scotland. I like the heavier types of beer. I suppose my favorite though is, "another". :D

Friends don't let friends code drunk.

But if I coded, I'd want a Newcastle while doing so.

I drank many world-known beers.

But you never tried beers from Montenegro ;-)

Montenegro is the only ecological state in the world, and believe it or not, rivers are so clean that  people stop by and drink it...
Some rivers are officialy free for drinking...

With that great mountain water we make (for me) maybe the best beer:   Niksicko beer

That's my choice...

I usually find that beer makes me dull when coding... But a single Guinness or two-three "whatever standard Danish pilsner" on a hot summer day is good. A small amount of whiskey can be fine too.

But generally, I don't find that alcohol is a good thing while coding.

But if I coded, I'd want a Newcastle while doing so.

A few years ago I was working on a dynamic site and the coder who was supposed to get things done completely dropped the ball. After 2 months I finally got him to hand over what he'd done. It was about 20% of what was needed, and none of it worked.

I spent the next two weeks coding my butt off to get things done. Every night I started drinking at usually ended up fairly "happy". :) There were no bugs and everything worked fine.

I could have killed that guy...

Trouble is, so many root beers tend to taste like pepto-bismol if they're not done right. Stewart's is nice, I like their cream soda better though. Chugs Choice and Virgil's are my favorites, even if they get only a little better than average at http://www.rootbeerreviews.com/ and Virgil's used to use real sassafras (now known to cause cancer in California...)

I'll have to remember to stay away from sassafras if I ever visit California again.  ;D
