The Weather...
« on: September 06, 2010, 12:04 AM »
Melbourne. It's raining.

Overhead it's overcast.

North? Clear skies.

South? Clear skies.

East. Clear skies.

West. Overcast.

Just very odd. And it's always like that. 4 seasons in a day.

Anyone get bizarre weather?

Same here (Indonesia). It was supposedly dry season from March till August and rainy season from September to February. But since last year the seasons has turned from 6-moths periods to 1-week period. It is now raining, and there was even storm yesterday and the day before, but last week it was sunny. And it goes like that all the year. Global warming effects?

I moved to Melbourne last November. :) But I really do miss Korea... Especially restaurants and shopping there!

I have a vague recollection of you saying something about that, but you're profile still says Seoul...

Hope you're enjoying Oz!

Come to think of it...was that not a (rather famous) song?  :)

No idea actually. Just a coincidence. It's a phrase though here. Dunno...

Occasionally we get freak hailstorms in the middle of 90-100+ degree weather in the summer. It's burning hot outside and then suddenly the hail pours down like crazy for about a minute and suddenly stops. Then it's hot again.

Found the song:
'Four seasons in one day' by Crowded House

And the lyrics:
Spoiler
Four seasons in one day
Lying in the depths of your imagination
Worlds above and worlds below
The sun shines on the black clouds hanging over the domain

Even when you're feeling warm
The temperature could drop away
Like four seasons in one day

Smiling as the shit comes down
You can tell a man from what he has to say
Everything gets turned around
And I will risk my neck again, again

You can take me where you will
Up the creek and through the mill
Like all the things you can't explain
Four seasons in one day

Blood dries up
Like rain, like rain
Fills my cup
Like four seasons in one day

It doesn't pay to make predictions sleeping on an unmade bed
Finding out wherever there is comfort there is pain
Only one step away
Like four seasons in one day

Blood dries up
Like rain, like rain
Fills my cup
Like four seasons in one day

Tch, tch ,tch - haven't you been listening to all the moaning about the internet access, (or lack of).  :D

BTW, you need to update your map location Renegade, then I'd know if I can hit you with a rock from up on the hill. ;)

I moved to Germany 8 years ago now & I've lost track of the weather records that have been broken (I'm not 100% sure of some of these):
  • highest temperature on record
  • hottest summer on record (?)
  • hottest August
  • wettest August
  • most rain in 24 hours
  • mildest winter(s) (?)
and like the rest of europe we got an extra cold winter last time round but dont know if it actually broke any records here

only a couple of those listed here Geschichte des Wetters und der Wetterbeobachtung

now that we have a new government?  ;)

we're in a rural area (10k from town), and on a rim, so broadband is unlikely - nor do we have access to 3G radio.  We do get 2G, but it's not terribly reliable...
