[Freeware] BatchBlitz - batch process digital photos
« on: March 11, 2010, 09:43 PM »
Hi all,

BatchBlitz is a digital photo categorizer, filter and batch editor (freeware).

In BatchBlitz, you first select some source photos to be processed, specify where to output the processed files, define one or more actions to be taken, then simply click Start.

Main window:

Categorize Photos....

BatchBlitz lets you categorize photos by Exif or IPTC metadata. E.g. you can put your photos into different folders according to the camera make, or the date photos are taken.

Filter Photo Files....

BatchBlitz allows you to filter out (or exclude) certain photos before actions are taken on them.

You can filter photos using regular expression:

Or, you can define some filtering rules, e.g. exclude photo only if width > height.

Batch Edit Photos....

To batch edit photos, you define one or more actions to be taken. These actions can be activated/deactivated, reordered by drag-and-drop, as well as added or deleted...

Actions are highly customizable. E.g. using "Add Text" action, you can even add Exif info onto your photos.

You can view these Exif/IPTC values in the Image Properties dialog:

Any comments will be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Yep. I'm the sole developer of BatchBlitz.  :)

Agreed.  Judging by the interface, this looks like a gorgeous piece of software.  Thanks for the post and software.

Initial testing was very positive.. Really friendly user interface, great that you can save and load projects.

I did experience some hanging (at least in my vmware test environment) that seemed to happen often when i tried to add text -- and the text would not show up when this happened, so seems like some problem with the text generation maybe?

A feature i'd love to see is the ability to invoke BatchBlitz via commandline and give it the name of a project file and then the name of some source files and have it run the saved-project settings on the specified files.

sunlitgreen- these guys have me interested in your software, but I haven't checked it out yet.

I noticed you have a portable version of your Photo Editor but not the full BatchBlitz? Any plans for a portable BatchBlitz? Thanks.

Thank you mouser for the feedback.

I also have been testing in vmware (win2k, winxp, vista, win7) and identified this problem. Just haven't located the bug for now. I'll release a bug fix asap.

That "commandline" feature is under way already.

I tested SGPE for portability... it saves settings in Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\SunlitGreen\PhotoEdit\1.3  :(

For now, you can simply zip the BatchBlitz installation folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\SunlitGreen\BatchBlitz) as a portable version package...  :)

The only problem is, in order to double-click BatchBlitz task file (.bbt) icons to launch the program, you'll have to first manually associate this file type with BatchBlitz.

Have you tried downloading it through the shareup link? You will be downloading the latest freeware version. Look at the date... I think shareup just did not update the entry.

Is it possible to perform sharpening with BatchBlitz after the resizing?
This is one pretty important option that is often missing.
Thanks in advance.

Take it easy. BatchBlitz once was shareware. This site hosts an outdated version.

No. Not now. But thanks, it's definitely a good idea! I'm considering to add a Sharpen/Blur action.

Oh.
OK.
I guess I should say thanks for making it freeware.
I'm going to be testing it out tonight (haven't had an opportunity 'til now...).
