The nearest hill is Penhill, the one to the right of it in the distance is Buckden Pike.

How about a photo of your part of Somerset?

Hmmm, isn't Penhill a launchpad for broomstick aviators?

Sorry no photo of my part of the world - I don't have the technology...

this isn't the view from my window but it's not far away - Alport Heights, Derbyshire, England.

the scenery is typical for around where i am but without the standing stones. oh, and several million houses popping up out of nowhere every couple of years.

the dude in the picture is 'Reado' a friend of mine - he's now gone missing in the good old US of A. in the unlikely event that you come across someone by the same name with an English accent (he's from Derbyshire, so he'll say things like 'Eyup me duck' and swear a lot) can you tell him to get in touch with someone back home. ta.

Something like that - actually the is a really good beacon site on the eastern end of the ridge (left as we are looking) which looked magnificent as the Millenium Celebrations kicked off across the UK.

You have the technology! Surely there must be an internet image you can link to of somewhere nearby ;)

You could try here for starters:

Thanks for that - gosh haven't been to Derbyshire for ages. I love the wild feeling in winter around the Kinder area (plus the thigh deep mud ...)

Well, grew up in Pennsylvania, but now I design flight simulators (NOT equivalent to the average M$ PC flight sim!).

Is that as in, Alport Castles?  If so, I vaguely remember walking there once, on an Easter break at Losehill Hall.

I think I'd be embarassed at using someone else's images, and I don't have digital photography of my own.  I stick to film and don't have a scanner.

Hmm, they are clever !? No deep links !? They change the URL ?!

Here is the way you could find them your self:
- [World]
- Europe
- Deutschland
- Baden- Württemberg
- Baden
- Heidelberg
---- you are there :)

-> er liegt sichs schön kühl - Schlossgarten Heidelberg

That should be a joke :)

I'm from Springfield, MO.  It's close to the southwestern corner of the state.
I'm an IT guy who likes any techno gadget imaginable.

I just found this site today.  Really cool.

I'm in the suburbs of Birmingham, England (but grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa).  Our neighbourhood was hit by a tornado a month or so back, and this was taken a few minutes afterwards.  Our house was untouched, but this picture was taken about 100 metres down the road...

Wow - great photos (if that isn't too sick a response).

Just goes to show that the US doesn't get all the weather.

Do you remember the storms from last January in the UK. I was trapped in my village - all the roads out were either flooded or covered in fallen trees (mostly both). Luckily there didn't seem to be too much damage to the local properties (but given that they are all traditional limestone builds with walls about 2 feet thick I suppose it isn't too surprising) but a number of people were flooded out - which was no mean feat given at we are well above the nearest river.

I was especially annoyed as I had bought tickets to go and see Cirque du Soleil when they visited Manchester and that was the day of the show! Kindly they offered my replacement tickets two weeks later.

I know it isn't in the least related but I used to live near Oxford and your damaged roofs brought to mind the "Headington/Oxford Shark" which I vividly remember appearing ... if you have never seen it here it is in all its glory. You can read about it at: http://www.headingto...story/misc/shark.htm

I was born in Oxford.... long time ago :)

Now I live in Greenwich (SE London).

Here are are a couple of local views. The first is towards the centre of London, from the hill which my house is on. The second is the classic view from the 'Observatory' in Greenwich Park.

I missed the January weather - I was in India, comfortable and safe in a cheap hotel in Mumbai, watching on BBC World as the tsunami wrecked the southern coast and much, much else.  I'm struck by how many English people read these forums... I wonder where the majority of donationcoder visitors come from?

That would be interesting!  Might also be fun to see not just where people live, but where they come from...

How about adding a footnote to the rogues gallery page so everyone can give the info if they wish?

You could always gather stats with a poll (it must be easy to download a countries list from somewhere on the web)

I am from Australia.  It has always surprised me how many Indian people are on the net, especially living and working outside India.
