IE7Pro : An ultimate Add-On for IE7
« on: May 10, 2007, 04:34 AM »
I've been using IE7Pro for a few weeks and I really really like it.Some would say it brings some of the Firefox goodness to IE7.IE7Pro's Features

Enhance Internet Explorer's Tabbed Browsing Capabilities
1. Double click to close tab.
2. Open new tab from address bar.
3. Enable/disable tab browse history manager.
4. Enable/disable crash recovery
5. Move the IE menu bar above the address bar
6. Hide search bar.
7. Modify the maxium number of parallel connections to the web server.
8. Select the external program to view page source

AD Blocker
Blocks all forms of advertising, including Flash ads, rich media, fly-ins, slide-ins, pop-ups, pop-unders, spyware and adware ads, and messenger ads.
Super Drag and Drop
With 'Super Drag and Drop' enabled, you can open new links by simply dragging and dropping the link on the page. You can also Drag and Drop to search selected words with the default search engine or save the selected photo when Shift is held down.
Mouse Gesture
Mouse Gesture allow the user to execute commonly performed tasks (open/close a tab, go back, go forward , print , scrolling page etc.) by drawing a simple symbol on the screen.
Crash Recovery
Crash Recovery automatically restores all opened pages after a crash happened.
Save Page to Image
Flexible and easy-to-use tool that converts html page from any URL to image. It captures the whole web page's content into JPG, BMP , GIF , PNG or TIFF on the fly.
Quick Proxy Switcher
Different internet connections do often require completely different proxy server settings and it's a real pain to change
them manually.
Greasymonkey alike User Script
IE7Pro Script is to Internet Explorer7 as Greasemonkey is to Firefox. It lets you remix the Web via scripts.

Note that we do not at all mind people posting about their own software.  Unlike many forums we do not consider that a bad thing.  But we do require that you identify yourself as being affiliated with the company when you do!

(ps. actually ie7pro sounds interesting)

Sure has a ton of bugs if you check out the forums on their site.

Why not just use Firefox?

Ton of bugs considering number of features? - I dont think so. Of course some but as with Firefox extensions you should focus on what is done about bugs not count them. And definitely disregard user bugs... When serious bugs become overwhelming and neglected you can start warning.

Hi dk70,

Ok....seems to conflict with java run time enviroment.

And it wasn't meant as a warning, but as a problem to solve.
But I do appreciate the notice on my wording.

As with all add-ons they do present various things to deal with.
I am wondering how much more resources it would use since I use a P3 at this time.

The only add-on I use is iespell.

I wont let go of an opportunity to defend an IE7 addon  8) Well, it has lots of functionality for Firefox users who sometimes have to use IE7. Better to accumulate what matters in 1 addon than having to travel around. If supported/developed less risk of serious bugs - you see 1 line of last changelog was about compatibility issues with other addons. Easy solution for Firefox users like myself.

http://forum.ie7pro..../viewtopic.php?id=28 or http://forum.ie7pro....viewtopic.php?id=743 I think developers have the right attitude. Bugs are here to stay, what is fixed, what can be reproduced etc. - just like with Firefox.

They dont keep a forum for their own sake of course but a certain percentage of bug reports tells more about the user than "problem", like changing referer cause some sites to act strangely. All learn but in this case notice how they deal with reports. Seems good to me. You know there will be a new version out shortly, then 1 more etc. - how it is with these things. If that is big problem dont use addons, or find more "stable" ones.

Dont know about resource/cpu usage - adblock filtering noticable hit for a P3 perhaps. May be much more is killing cpu, Ive seen mouse movements task cpu 100% with a buggy Firefox extension so much is possible. Less is better with that cpu no doubt. Im not so sure Firefox is a relief to cpu usage.

If you know of any addon duplicating Firefox session saving and restore let me know. IE7Pro is on their way with crash recovery unless only taking advantage of build in features - I dont know IE7 in details.

Pentium III; of course!  dohSmile.gif

I drove that for some seven years. 500 MHz. My new station is 3.33, but is so filled with errors that it is not any faster...
