The easiest way to swich back and forth.
I still miss the ctrl-tab tab switching in opera being a cue first in-first out; I like it better than firefox's strict list (left to right switching):

Opera lovers might also like to investigate some of Rijk's interface customisations. I'm using his Twelve mod that emulates the new MS Office ribbon interface by using context-related toolbars instead of menus.

That gets rid of the menu bar, but adds an extra toolbar, so I'm using it with NonTroppo's Breeze Simplified MICRO skin for more screen space. There's a link on the same pageto create a matching theme for the rest of your apps.  :-*

Thanks, Nontroppo!

does anyone know if you can change shortcuts in FF?
dont think can be done in options, maybe an extension?

other thing I miss a little is being able to save in .mht format (archive in Opera)
I used save a lot of web pages as .html but discovered backing them up or burning to disc takes forever (all those little files)
Have Surfulator now anyways so it's not so important

Even managed to find a cheerful skin - it's so dreary out of the box ...

It's a zip file, not a real Java JAR executable. You have to rename the .jar to .zip first and then you can open it with WinZip or whatever you use.

Use Keyconfig for shortcut manipulation http://www.extension...254&hl=keyconfig install the "bumped" version.

Use MAF for mht files http://maf.mozdev.org/index.html not compatible with Firefox 2 but should work after being "bumped" I just tried it and it seems to work. Use attachment for installation, is pre-bumped. Rename file to maf-0.6.3.xpi before installation - forum dont allow xpi extension so it changed to faked zip. Bumping just means changing a value called "maxversion required" in a file. XPI is like zip or jar, lots of files inside. Usually extensions with maxversion 1.5 works with 2 or higher but no guarantees. Best to find alternative but I dont know any but MAF for this. Once installed go to tools menu, pick "Mozilla Archive Format" set your preferences and check if it works.

Have to mention Scrapbook, mother of all browser scrapbooks http://amb.vis.ne.jp...ok/index.php?lang=en Perhaps useful.

Dont think Ive seen more than a handful of really good Firefox themes - plenty are ugly and often something broken even if just a button for not supported extension. So I prefer default though less than full of life. But certainly better with Opaque + Cleartabs https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/3839/ Should not break anything since not much is changed. One of the supported themes is Mostly Crystal https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1905/ - should default be out of the question. Probably better to hunt down whatever you want at Add-ons site instead of Customize.org, go for what appears to be supported.

thanks Ruffneck,
I was actually able to open it  -
just didnt know what to do then  ;)
see the 2 attatched files* which I presume you've got to edit in somewhere or maybe place in some extensions folder somewhere ... along with all the other bits n pieces ..
*Had to rename files from .rdf

dk70,
you're always a mine of info when it comes to FF
THANKS
will try out all your suggestions

PS I'm sticking with the kid's skin for the while (sounds a bit dodgy ??!) - all that grey needed an antidote !

They have changed file to XPI instead of JAR in latest version http://www.deviantar.../deviation/41889409/ "This should make the install much easier for all users."
