Advanced Properties by KodeZwerg
« on: March 19, 2021, 07:03 PM »
Hello Visitor,
welcome to my new project called Advanced Properties!

This application might be a helper if you need to quick modify File Attributes that Windows Properties-Dialog dont show you.

When you start program you will see this:
AdvProp_Main.pngAdvanced Properties by KodeZwerg

By clicking on advanced tab you will see this:
AdvProp_MainAdvanced.pngAdvanced Properties by KodeZwerg

Those are the Basics, but application aint limited to that!

To have it more handy, controlled over Windows Context Menu I have added this:
AdvProp_Options.pngAdvanced Properties by KodeZwerg

You can quick check whats going on by selection my overview option from help menu:
AdvProp_Overview.pngAdvanced Properties by KodeZwerg

It does know several file formats, one thing is a bit special, ADS (Alternate Data Stream) Viewer:
AdvProp_ADS.pngAdvanced Properties by KodeZwerg

Most features I put into excecutable format:
AdvProp_Executable.pngAdvanced Properties by KodeZwerg
AdvProp_Manifest.pngAdvanced Properties by KodeZwerg

And before something bad happen, my application will display such:
AdvProp_Secure.pngAdvanced Properties by KodeZwerg

If you get lost, maybe the included documentiation will help:
AdvProp_Documentation.pngAdvanced Properties by KodeZwerg

This is a work-in-progress release but should work stable.
I wanted to share it before I rewrite to kick-out third-party stuff and use own.

For the interested, I have included a nice little Intro this time  :tellme:

If you dis-/like it, please tell me. Feedback is all that I ask for.

Version v1.0 will include specialized executable disassemble features, planned till end of year or never  :P

Best wishes and enjoy this free product!

Very Nice!

The first time it ran Avast slapped it while it checked if it was ok, which threw a few unhandled exceptions, then when it decided the program was ok it restarted fine. I moved the exe into a good place and added the content menu, very handy tool! Thank you!

This looks like it could be useful. I plan to give more detailed feedback later.

By the way, if you're getting a head start on the next NANY, keep in mind it will be NANY 2022.

I can hardly wait to get more feedback and I am curious about what you have to say

I'm always totally lost there and don't really know where to upload something. Mouser knows that when it comes to this, I am a non-instructable repeat offender

I moved your post here since this is really an EARLY 2022 NANY not a NANY 2021.

Maybe that should get you to make a NANY 2022 area?  ;D

I finally decided I had some time to test this out and give some feedback. I realize now that Advanced Properties is probably not for me because I have no idea what most of the information it shows me means. :-[ But I do have a little bit of feedback on the aesthetics.

I really don't like the transparency effects. I feel I can't even concentrate on trying to figure out and use the app itself because I am too distracted by the transparency. I see that there's an option to disable the effects, but none of the options are enabled. Is it supposed to be that way?

AdvProp - Options.pngAdvanced Properties by KodeZwerg

I also noticed that the Options window is "always on top" of other applications, even though the main AdvProp window can be hidden behind other windows.

I have a similar issue with trying to quit the program. The static/snow effect is really strange and distracting. That wouldn't be much of a problem if the option to disable quit confirmation dialog worked.

1. That is okay, it is not a-must-have tool. For me as a technican fan it is (^_^)
2. Makes me happy!

In this progress state, yes. I was aware of such and just put non-functional controls everywhere around to not forget them ;-)
(first i plan features, then how to GUI them and finally activate them)

Yes, there is a problem... if you open Options, running other applications, go back over taskbar icon the main window will appear and the modal option window is behind.
When you run into that error you have no chance to bring options back in front = terminate it the hard way or run another instance to let it work again.
So I decided to make extra windows OnTop, I will tinker a bit to avoid such in one of next releases.

That I have not understand. You mean, on your system the quit dialog dont work?
Sorry for the static, I was just playing around with code ;)

Thank you for your opinion! That help to make it better!

I meant that the option to "Don't show this Dialog again" is disabled.

You landed on MajorGeeks:
https://www.majorgee...nced_properties.html
Thank you for warning me
I do not understand why they put it up there and more I do not understand why they not share origin link.
If someone try to tell me something over there, I do not receive it.
Somehow I plan to make it part of distritbution license to have a origin link included, still free of charge etc... I do need feedback, bad or good doesnt matter. It just can get better.

I'm sorry that I can't really look forward to it / being happy about that.

They put it up there as they think it is a good software.

You can send them an email regarding a bad link:

The link to the origin page is there. Your name on the software page is the link back to this thread.
