@cranioscopical:
like backing up your computer
I tried that... couldn't get it into reverse  :-[
-cranioscopical (March 19, 2020, 06:07 AM)
It's your lucky day! I just did a quick search and found a workaround for that on the FFS (FreeFileSync) website. It's a $FREE addon to the app, called "FFSyncRomesh" - named after the developer, apparently (Romesh Rangarathan).
What! No more double the clutching at straws?
As for RR, they do say that every lining has a Silver Cloud.
-cranioscopical (March 19, 2020, 03:00 PM)
Yes, but it would be magical thinking to suppose that any Silver Cloud had a Merlin, as they don't.

Something that I think might be comforting- words from the epidemiologist who helped defeat smallpox.

https://www.wired.co...lpox-epidemiologist/

He gives hope that we can defeat it, steps that should be taken, and what defeat of the novel coronavirus will look like.

Thanks for this link.

One of the most helpful things I've done is have group chat windows with my friends (dc and real life), so we can kvetch and joke and plan and comfort and worry together.
There are lots of different tools for this.. The DC web chat for dc folks, and google hangouts for my real life friends, etc.  I know some people use facebook messenger, etc.
So now might be a good time to get your family and friends set up with one of these tools if they aren't already.

Cross-posted here for us to see how the other half might have to live under our new extreme circumstances - oh, and for entertainment:  :o
@mouser:
With the entire world is quarantined indoors, and it feeling very scary outside, at least we have our virtual homes and families!
Well, I dunno about that. It's pretty scary in MY home. My wife just shouted at me, apropos of nothing in particular: "What the heck are you sitting playing ruddy Fallout 4 for!? You've been playing it for 4 straight hours now! Why don't you get off your fat ugly backside and do something useful instead of wasting your time!" (To a chorus of "Yeah, Dad!" from my two kids. They just want me to get off the laptop so as they can use it. I've been hogging it all morning.)
So I went out for a walk in the deserted streets, crossing the road if I saw a human or a dog or a bat approaching.
It's a lovely day. Early autumn. Deciduous trees starting to come into their glorious reddish-brown shades on the tree-lined avenue where I live, just next door to the local abattoir - which is thankfully silent now.

AirConsole Is Giving Everyone Free Access to All (150+ games) of Their Video Games During Covid-19 Lockdowns:
https://www.prnewswi...downs-301025571.html

All of them are multiplayer games, so you and your friends can de-stress (or stress some more?).

Many thanks for the games link (above).
It's going to be war in our house in lockdown now - 3 kids (me and my 2 kids) all competing for use of the same laptop, so as to play games.

Maybe just past the text in a quote in your post instead of attaching it as a download.

I would have but I thought it was too long - I've amended to link to the source page

Well, very well received Child of Light is free until March 28th:

So, download it, let children play for a couple of days and then it is your turn.

Hi folks-
I seem to be affected less than most.
1. I live and work in Alabama, and we've got fewer cases than many states.
2. I'm salaried, so if I get sent home I still get paid.
3. My company is in good financial shape.
4. We're still good on disinfectant and hand sanitizer for at least a couple more weeks.
5. I'll be retiring in 4 more months.
6. Got enough supplies at home to stay hunkered down for a while if it comes to it.

That being said, when I came in to work on Monday I felt like I had been punched in the stomach all day. Even though there is a "shelter in place" order for this area, my company is considered to be essential, so we're still working.  Just realizing how severely this has affected so many people, and knowing what could happen if we all don't take this situation seriously really scares me.  Today things feel much better.  Don't know if I'm just getting numb to it or what........

I surely will be glad when this start to return to normal. If you believe in God (I do). PRAY!

Stay safe, everybody.

-Rick

Turn off the TV (the little psychosis factory) and throw it away.
I've done this the day after 9/11.
I've lived happily ever since...

I did that about 12 years ago. But then I got lost in the internet ...

Just a note: This thread is not for scientific debate about coronavirus -- it is only for tips for relieving stress and dealing with anxiety and staying productive and positive.

With more people working from home, I thought this thread about How to Work from Home might be useful for keeping focused in these trying times.

With some focused things based on hobbies that I put off.  When I start to think about things, I immerse myself elsewhere with things that are tangential to my current thoughts.

There's also my Instant Boss, which can help you break the time into little chunks, that may be easier to handle.
