So I turned a bunch of stuff off, and presuming they "do basic" privacy control, I'm having fun just loading it with extensions, and the first thing I did was add extra menus. One of them "isn't quite" horozontal, but it mimics the horozontal type stuff. The other is kind of an Alphabetical God Mode, that you can apparently move stuff up into your most used session.

And it's Not Quite Google! :)

So we'll see!

Heh mini bug, I installed so many extensions they crowded my address bar, then when I resized it, they vanished! :)
But it's working okay now, so bye bye bye Chrome unless something "insists".

Also, it seems to have some of its own adblockers native, possibly even before the Adblock extensions kick in, and I'm already up to over a thousand items blocked!

Thousands of trackers per day! Cyberpunk 2020 is here!

Sometimes on Youtube I can't find any date for when the video was made. Is there actually none posted, or how or where do I find it?

Do you mean when the video was actually made, or simply when that particular YouTube item (file) was posted onto YouTube?
I don't think the actual "made" date would necessarily be known/given and would not form part of the file metadata if you downloaded it.
Otherwise, the date that video file was posted onto YouTube usually/always(?) seems to be given. You could also presumably see the same metadata on the channel of the person who posted that video, where all their videos will be listed.
I usually make a note in CHS (Clipboard Help & Spell) of the video title, the YouTube source link and the date it was posted when I download a YouTube video.

Yes, that is where the date is supposed to appear, but it does not always do so.

when that particular YouTube item (file) was posted onto YouTube
Sorry, I meant '...when that particular YouTube item (file) was posted onto YouTube.'

Uphold handles the payments from BAT.  As I'm a content creator, I verified my account with Uphold for the BAT that I receive.

Today, I received the following e-mail:

You’re invited to join the closed beta program for our revolutionary new debit card that pays 3% CryptoBack and 1% CashBack* on all purchases.

The Uphold Card is a world-first allowing you to instantly toggle between 50+ funding sources, including cryptocurrencies, such as BTC or XRP, national currencies such as USD or GBP, as well as precious metals. With the Uphold Card, you have the freedom to spend what you want, when you want, wherever you want at nearly 50 million merchants and ATMs worldwide.

As a member of our closed beta program, you’ll receive a FREE Uphold Card before the public launch. All we ask in return is that you use the card regularly and send us feedback so that we can refine the card experience before we introduce it to the public.

As a thank you, beta cardholders will receive 3% CryptoBack and 1% CashBack during the beta program. You earn what you spend: spend BTC, earn BTC; spend USD, earn USD.

Did anyone else receive this?

I did. And I was concerned it may have been a phishing attempt.

But now that I see you got it, too, I'm less wary about that. :D

I don't get enough in the account to use it regularly as they ask.

Yeah, I think they expect people to be using Uphold to buy and hold cryptocurrency.

I thought I might transfer some lumens from the airdrop, but they don't currently accept lumens as a funding source  :-\

OK, I just turned on Brave rewards.  I was skeptical about activating it, but it looks like it's just as easy to turn off if it annoys me.  Let's see what happens next... :tellme:

I've noticed in the past month or maybe two that I'm getting almost no Brave Rewards ads, even though I have it set to the highest setting. The only thing I'm getting is the occasional sponsored image on my new tab page.

It used to be that I wouldn't get many ads throughout the day and then for some reason in the evenings I'd start getting a ton of them. But now I can't remember when was the last time I saw one of the ad notifications. I wonder what changed. :-\

Not sure.  I have it on three machines (all of them are at my sit down work station, and on one of them I get them consistently.  The other two, not so much.  But I pay less attention to the other two, so chalked it up to that.

I'm getting Brave ads like clockwork.  Some I click on, some I don't.  I've earned $0.10 already!  :-*

I was considering uninstalling Brave and reinstalling it to see if it would fix the fact that I haven't been getting any ads for a long time.

But a few minutes ago I just got my first Brave Rewards ad since... I don't remember when. Seems like I haven't gotten any this entire year so far. But maybe I got a few in January or February.

Here's hoping that more come in.

have you tried to set the number of ads low then back up again?

Yes, I had tried that. I also tried disabling Brave Rewards and re-enabling it. Nothing made a noticeable difference. That's why my next idea I was thinking of trying was to completely uninstall and reinstall the browser.

Suddenly tonight I've gotten 3 ads within an hour. So it looks like it's back to normal for me now. Not sure what changed.

That only lasted a few days. I don't think I've seen any of their Brave Reward ads for the past week. And now I'm seeing a bunch of regular ads all over places I've never seen them before, such as YouTube. (Wow, I never realized how bad things have gotten at YouTube!)

What's going on with Brave lately? :(

My only problem with Brave has been getting randomly logged out (like it killed the cookies or something).  Other than that, been getting the ads OK, and even having to lower the guard on a few sites to make them function correctly.

I found out what happened to my Brave Rewards.

Sometime earlier this year (in January or February), I enabled a Windows 10 feature called Focus Assist. For those not aware, this feature disables any notifications from popping up from any app on your computer (unless you specifically configure that app as high priority). And since Brave Rewards ads show up as notifications, I never saw the notifications.

I had configured Focus Assist to automatically turn on at night and off in the morning so my PC wouldn't unexpectedly make loud noises in the late/early hours. So when I manually enabled Focus Assist I assumed that, like Android's Do Not Disturb feature, it would automatically disable itself at the scheduled time in the morning to deactivate the feature. I was wrong. So I've unwittingly had Focus Assist enabled for most of this year. I noticed it was enabled and manually disabled it a couple weeks ago, hence Brave Rewards starting to work again briefly. But then I re-enabled Focus Assist during Ludum Dare 46 so I wouldn't be disturbed and so my screenlapse wouldn't capture any notifications containing private/personal information.

I've disabled Focus Assist yet again and have already seen 2 Brave Rewards notifications. So all is well on that front.

As for the regular ads all over the place I complained about a week ago, including YouTube, Brave recently had a buggy/bad adblocking filter that got pushed out which caused ads to fail to be blocked for virtually all Brave users. It has since been fixed.

The Brave web browser is hijacking links, and inserting affiliate codes:
