two interesting discussions of various terms that came up in the recent alt.comp.freeware discussion:

So it sounds like you provide a hybrid of DonationWare and RequestWare ...

actually you probably mean registerware not requestware.

though you could probably also add in: emailware (users can email and say they cant afford to doante), goodpersonware (we give free licenses to anyone involved in charity or freeware authoring), helpware (free license to people who help out a lot).. could go on..

That too ...

Actually Ithought requestware was appropriate because you request people come back to the website, register and take part in the community etc.

It goes like this.
"If the gas station says FREE GAS FOR YOUR LIFE TIME.
It is FREE until you die."

Great analogy 7 - You still need to go to the gas station to get the free gas....for every tank.

DC only wants to see you 4 times in your life.  Actually, we like to see you (software user) more, but understand not everyone can hang around with us :)

Insert Brilliant Sig line here

I've learned many times over that newer isn't always better. But novelty sucks me in every time.

I just discovered what DC is: "atentionware". We request a bit of atention, in exchange for great programs! :D
