Ugliest Web Page Contest
« on: April 10, 2012, 09:04 AM »
I think it would be fun to have an "Ugliest Web Page" contest where people compete to create the ugliest web page possible.

The only rules would be that:

1) You can only use HTML and JavaScript (no Flash or anything else)
2) Page length limit of (loosely) 3~5 page scrolls or so
3) The page must work (no errors) (Well, unless the error actually contributes to the ugliness in a compelling manner)
4) No frames

It would be perfect for anyone as nobody would need any design skills at all. Just a WYSIWYG editor would do even for people that have never made a web page before. Mind you, those with design experience would be at an advantage as they already know what works and doesn't.

Would anyone be interested?

I think it would be fun~! ;D

@Renegade
You forgot few smaller but important rules:
- big images must be scaled down with width/height (no thumbnails allowed),
- mouse cursor movement must be followed by some crazy shit (i.e. stars),
- MIDI sound must be played over and over, and over again.

BTW Some template: http://www.angelfire...per/badwebs/main.htm

I've seen that one before, but it lost my "private competition" when I looked into this stuff a couple months ago on one of my rabidly-many projects. That's how I came up with those beauties so fast - I'd already spent half a day looking for the "worst site on the web".

Heh so Renegade? What's left of your thread? : )

Okay, I'll post one of my own entries, though it arose by accident rather than deliberate pain. Maybe that makes it worse.

I was going to make one on homestead...purely because they are the leader in crap sites...

Even their own site is crap...

Oops! We're sorry, but you appear to be using a browser that's incompatible with our SiteBuilder software.

Our SiteBuilder software works well with Firefox and Internet Explorer. If you have one of those browsers installed on your computer, you can simply use it to reopen Homestead.com and begin your free trial.

If you don't yet have Firefox or Internet Explorer, they're easy to get, and fast!

Download Firefox

Download Internet Explorer
Thank you. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we think you'll be pleased with the results!

Its Opera for god sakes people, not exactly an unknown, brand new engine...STOP LIMITING YOUR SHIT TO FIREFOX AND INTERNET EXPLORER!

Nah, If a web developer chooses to be an ass and Block one of the major browsers, its their own fault IMHO...and anyway...it's much more fun to bitch about it xD

OFFTOPIC
You can fix something easily but decide to complain instead. Do you have Polish roots by any chance? ;)

Heh my first website was SLIGHTLY better, though I was stricken with the "Let's Do Multimedia" Midi virus : )

I tried to find an old copy of it but the server it was on has a robots.txt block.

Use meaningless symbols for your navigation, and make them try to jump out of the way of your mouse when you hover near them.
