What do you guys think of the new forum look and feel and features?

I want to thank brotherS, jgpaiva, vegas, momonan, and everyone else in the irc channel who helped test it.
there may be a few things i still have to tweak, but it seems to be working well.

Make sure you check out the super revamped Supporter Yearbook, which is now quite fun to browse.

Let me know if you run accross any anomolies.

Suggestions are welcome as always.

note that it took me a couple of days to get used to the changes in look but i hope you will agree after you adjust that it is mostly a welcome improvement.

My only comment, besides that the new feel is kind of neat, is to ask where did the "recent posts" section that used to be at the bottom of the page go? I feel kind of lost without it!

Hehe, change is hard for some people. I've always found giving something new a chance can have nice consequences. I'm looking forward to exploring the new format.

thanks for catching that - didn't realize it was turned off. it's on now.

PLUS, you'll also now find links at the top to huge pages of recent posts and even recent topics (new feature i added) - very useful for catching up.

Now, everything became so much more neat!
I love that search field on the upper bar, and i love how this new look is much better for us, screen-real-estate appreciators!

Congrats on the upgrade and new look! It certainly has a cleaner look to it and I really like the new search bar. I like how it is "smart"--if you're in a thread, it searches the thread; if you're in a forum overviewing the posts, the search looks through the forum; if you're in the main forum page, it searches the entire forum. Awesome!

I'm on a different computer than usual, but my "Show Unread Posts" link no longer shows any results. It says there are no new posts, which is impossible because I haven't been here for the past two days. . .

Have you logged in on the other computer - or are you looking as a guest? You need to log in so that it knows which posts are unread by you.

Yes I logged in. That's how I posted. It seems to only check for new posts since I logged in, even though I'm not picking the "since last visit" link, because it is showing a couple of posts now.

Yes, it seems to be using cookies instead of using information from a database. But it's only with the new forum. When I first signed up it properly showed all the posts I hadn't read.

And right now both "Unread Posts" and "Since Last Visit" seem to do the same thing.

deozaan, i'll look into this a bit - i can't see why it should be using anything other that info stored in your forum profile (ie cookies shouldn't matter), but i know that keeping track of unread posts is a bit iffy.

Maybe a "Add this threat to your DC-bookmarks"-Button ?

Often i want to go back to my favorite threads to read some later "in rest"
and other i want to access more often.... like this or that review-thread.
