don't forget this site : http://portablefreeware.com/

even though they weren't exactly understanding of donationcoder.com (see https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=1784.0) they still seem like a good site with their heart in the right place.

I nominate SpeQ Mathematics, a clean and powerful little program done with my favorite programming language (but not by me).  It's free, donations much appreciated.

The files need about 450K, half of which is the User Guide.

SpeQ has the following features.

    * Expression calculations with arithmetic, conditional, logical and bitwise operators
    * Around 100 built-in mathematical, physical and conditional constants
    * Around 60 built-in functions for Analysis, Arithmetic, Complex numbers, Hyperbolic, Integers, Probability, Numeral systems, Statistics, Trigonometry
    * Define your own variables and functions for use in calculations
    * Plot fully adaptable graphs, trace the plotted functions, save your graphs
    * Decimal, binary, hexadecimal and octal numeral systems
    * Complex number calculations
    * Colored workarea
    * Save and load sheets
    * Orderly overview of all available functions and constants in the Functionstree
    * A list with all defined variables and functions in the Memorylist
    * Context-sensitive help and a detailed users guide

Here are the apps I use most often on my USB drive. I'm including the size they take up on my stick, you can probably get them smaller by only copying the needed files, but there's plenty of room on my stick so I tend to download the full versions.

KeePass Password Safe - Free, Open-Source, secure and encrypted data safe I use often. Also versions available for Windows Mobile so I can have a copy of the database on my Treo.

1.8 Mb

CCleaner Portable - Excellent tool for cleaning up computers.

1.37 Mb

HD Tune - A hardrive benchmark and diagnostic application. Freeware.
http://www.hdtune.com/
392 Kb

ClamWin Portable - Free antivirus scanner. A lifesaver when faced with serious virus/malware problems.
http://www.clamwin.com
14.1 Mb

DTaskManager - Freeware - Advanced Portable substitute for Windows taskmanager. Very Nice.
http://dimio.altervista.org/eng/
145 Kb

Folder Size v1.4 (RoteBetaSoftware)- Ever wonder what's taking up all the room on your drives? This piece of freeware gives you a visual representation of the folders sizes on your drive and allows you to drill down to individual files. Another great piece of freeware.

333 Kb

System Info for Windows (SIW) - Freeware tool that will give you almost any conceivable piece of information about your computer. Another tool I use often at work.

1.22 Mb

7-zip Portable - Freeware zip/archiving software

2.08 Mb

FastStone Capture - Freeware screencapture utility. Very good program.

1.24 Mb

And though it doesn't run from the drive and requires an install, I find it very handy to have a copy of the K-Lite Codec pack on the drive.

6.75 Mb

If you use IE, the new ALPass can be installed on any removeable storage like a USB or iPod. Unfortunately, there's a bug in the installer that causes it to install directly in Korean instead of English. If you install from inside of ALPass v2.7, it's works fine (From the File menu). The developer is a bit busy now, but will get to the new installer when he can. (I'll try to remember to bug him again on Monday or Tuesday to get it sorted out.)

DISCLAIMER: I currently work for ESTsoft, the producer of ALPass.

ALPass is a web site login and password utility to securely manage all that information and automate your logins for you.

I gave the new version a spin before releasing it, and what really impressed me was that I could install it on anything. It just didn't matter what it was. USB drive, iPod, SD card... It just worked.

I'll shut up now before I sound like a commercial. ;)

Got a URL for that? I use Snadboy Revelation, but a search for that didn't turn up anything useful.

I don't have that much stuff on my USB flashdrive, as I don't use it as a swiss army knife, but mostly to carry a few pieces of important information around.

notepad++ - because life is too short for editors without features.
fSekrit - passwords, CISCO PIX config (and because security is more important than editing features  8) :D ).

I've also made the flashdrive bootable, this is pretty neat since I don't have a floppy drive in my computer... so a bootable flashdrive enables me to do BIOS flash updates and running those HDD vendor tools (both included on the drive).
