im sorry,i didnt know where else to put the question.
im in a band and we are using cubase to record the bas,the guitar and the voice.
but we dont have a drummer yet so we need a good program wth drums.
the lastone we had was working but the sound was too low and then we had to make the voice and everything very low too and the whole song cant be heared easily.
do you have any sugestions?

OK, I have read How did "faggot" get to mean "male homosexual"? pointed to by google. I did misunderstand it as a unusual spelling of a musical instrument. In my mother language there is an instrument called "Fagott", and in my ignorance I thought it may be the same or similar in English, (as is the case for other instruments like organ=Orgel, trumpet=Trompete ...).

Now I wonder whether the members of this forum actively discourage the membership of people that are homosexual and admit to it. Or is there some taboo attached to the nickname, that I still don't get?

We have "fagot" in Danish as well, but couple his nickname with the forum title...

I don't have anything against gay people etc., but his name/title might offend somebody. It does baffle me a bit, though, since his post is a perfectly acceptable one, and doesn't look like a troll post (which I would have expected with that kind of name).

Given this quote, that nick is considered abusive/offensive, and i think it should be changed.
On the contrary, Wolf. AFAIK, there isn't anything against the gay community (or any other community, for that matter), but the way that nick refers to a homosexual, might be considered offensive for them, thus, it's innapropriate.

PS: i didn't delete the thread because this is a sensitive matter that i think should be handled by mr.mouser himself

Thinking in another pejorative term, an idea blinked on my mind on why he could choose such nick. And Wikipedia seems to agree with me (first paragraph). Of course, some other gay people could not feel so comfortable with the term (and they probably won't)

BTW, Wolf, the instrument in English is "Bassoon". Your confusion it's totally understandable, even in Spanish is called "Fagot"

from what i understand, BFD by Fxpansion is the way to go if you want real sounding drums - though, of course, you can make them sound as synthetic or unreal too.

i have a friend that recently rigged up a Traps electronic drumkit to BFD via cubase - pretty much blows away other 'electronic' drumkits - unless you are going to buy a top of the range Roland or something but even then the BFD sounds aren't going to be beat.

Answering your original question - can't you just buy some drum samples and sequence them in Cubase? I don't use Cubase personally but I use Sonar which is it's main rival and that has a fully functional drum machine built in - you just need the sounds.

Your are most welcome to stay and chat here but I would suggest that if you want specific info and suggestions for Cubase there are loads of forums out there specifically aimed at Cubase and music making that would have a wealth of experience to offer. Try googling "Cubase forum help" for loads of forums relating to Cubase or "Cubase Tutorials" for lots of suggestions - I'm sure there will be drum programming tutorials out there.

Actually Googling "Cubase drum" comes up with loads of stuff.

PS: Actually I was going to suggest FXpansion as I have the DXi version of it - hadn't realised that they had branched out into VST territory now. FXpansion also has a really good user community that share sounds and settings. Worth a look.

Cruise over to the Project Studio Network. It's a podcast and they recently did some reviews on drum software. The last ones were simply amazing. If you want real - you got it. I don't remember the name of the software though.

For your drumming program, look into EZDrummer. It's a vst instrument you add and use MIDI to map out your drum parts within Cubase (or whatever platform). The drums sound really cool but if you want to take it a step further, ideally you want to export each piece of the drum individually into WAV's which you can then process and add your different compression, reverbs, whatever for each piece.

EZDrummer all the way.

One of my buddies produced some descent albums (artists with videos on Much Music for example) and used the program mixed like I'm talking about with great results to give you an idea.
