Only if you're logged into google..
So nothing for me since I am always trying to keep Google off as much as possible (even blocking their search cookies).
AFAIR I was not happy when I had discovered it logs of ALL my queries (search history was ON by default few years ago).

"Manage blocked sites" looks like you need to be constantly googled-in. Am I right?

This entire subject is just boggling.
The claims, the misinterpretations, the justifications, it's all too much, and I can't stand it.
Me neither but the thing I am afraid of is the end result. I mean: what will future bring us if the legislation goes against science (carrots case)? No matter what are the reasons behind funny law, they may not be remembered in next 20 years. Our kids may learn in school what carrot is but if they go to shop they will see: "Natural Fruits Juice" with it inside and don't understand what mindf**k it is.

I can think about speculations and lies at this moment but cannot help thoughts about world going upside down.

N.A.N.Y. 2012 / Re: NANY 2012 Early Beta: Portable Extension Warlock
« on: November 20, 2011, 06:41 PM »
Looks OK, but the public comp I often use does not have .NET installed.

Unfortunately, there's not really anything that can be done about this.

Although .NET framework is still needed, it would be nice to see if this requirement can be lowered a bit with framework version number.
Maybe this application does not utilize full potential of .NET 4.0 or even 3.0 and can require 2.0 only (or better: separate EXE files for 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 if it is possible).

The reason behind this suggestion: I saw few public computers with .NET 2.0 available thanks to ATI Catalyst Control Center.

@Josh
My default answer is: Total Commander with nice set of plugins ;)

Here is what can be done:

Searching

Screenshot - 2011-11-21 , 00_44_15.png Screenshot - 2011-11-21 , 00_51_47.png

Viewing

Screenshot - 2011-11-21 , 00_53_24.png Screenshot - 2011-11-21 , 00_54_38.png Screenshot - 2011-11-21 , 00_55_21.png Screenshot - 2011-11-21 , 00_56_03.png

Editing

Screenshot - 2011-11-21 , 00_58_21.png Screenshot - 2011-11-21 , 00_58_29.png

Two cons:
1. it needs some playing with WDXes,
2. only few plugins have attributes writing support.

Edited: found auto-complete bug after 5 minutes :(
-fenixproductions (November 03, 2011, 10:24 AM)

What happened?  Have you reported it to Juraj?
When I select first list item to be inserted and hit Enter sometimes the 3rd one goes into text (or 2nd or 4th). This bug appears for every entry: pretty rarely highlighted word is pasted.

I think this may be an issue of automatic sorting option checked in but I still need to test it more.

No yet reported. I want to give TED more time and make full list of issues/suggestions (like I did in the past).

Living Room / Re: Bill Gates, not Steve Jobs, is the real hero
« on: November 05, 2011, 04:33 PM »
I partially agree with wraith808 and understand that each human has bad times but... I don't like people put as high-moral examples when they has a lot of issues behind their backs. MT was not god, neither do SJ nor BG. They did some good and some bad deeds, all changed world somehow but what matters for me is total outcome. (Un)fortunately Bill made it on top amongst these three (for me).

Offtopic but...

Not in the sense of Mother Theresa at least.
Such words always bother me after reading a lot of stuff mentioned here:

Going to test it now :)

- was bugged as hell - dunno how does it work now,
-fenixproductions (October 21, 2011, 07:56 PM)
As mentioned previously, this was resolved fairly early on. Apparently Steam released the game prior to completion.
-Ehtyar
I do not consider it "early" if there is DLC already.

- multiplayer was not fun for me at all - too many things on the screen for such low resolution.
-fenixproductions (October 21, 2011, 07:56 PM)
Not sure what you mean by this.
-Ehtyar

For games I often look on the hero/environment size ratio. Magicka heroes are too big for my taste*. With dozen enemies and two co-players there is too much going on the screen. In such scenario there is no place for spells combining (which is great though) and I had to end up with random keys bashing, hoping not to kill by comrades or throw them out of the screen.

*) I've always though that better resolutions and bigger screens were meant to show more usable/workable space - NOT bigger icons, toolbars... heroes.

Living Room / Re: LiteOn DVD writers?
« on: October 15, 2011, 07:30 PM »
Two LiteONs in the past behave similar to your description after a while. What was worse: when problems started to appear they all stopped to see original disks (no matter what type it was: data, music or games) BUT all self burned DVDs were read perfectly well.

AFAIK if problems happen, firmware update is worth nothing - it can't fix it.

P.S. Post right in time: my DVD (Samsung this time) suddenly died today :(

Nope: that one is too young (2008). The stuff I am referring to is at least 5 years old.

I can't think of a specific example from Google (though I am sure some here will be able to) but there are lots of examples of other big companies tinkering with EULAs and the small print says they can. Even if Google hadn't modified EULAs (which I know they have) there is nothing to stop them changing them in the future and by accepting a passive update with an updated EULA I am sure you will be deemed to have consented to the new terms.

My memory isn't perfect (and web searches give nothing about*) but... wasn't there some issue with Google Desktop Search and its silent licence change few years ago (8-10)?

*) Same situation as for Crash IE project I could swear was real...

Living Room / Re: Steve Jobs is dead.
« on: October 06, 2011, 02:16 PM »
Please correct me if I am wrong but... isn't compassion some part of Buddhism? To help people?
For me it is not the problem of actually not giving zillions of dollars to others but identifying with some ideology (being "proud" of it) and not following it. It is like some vegetarians, I met, wearing leather shoes.

BTW A joke about whole situation was born at my work.

Do not read if you may feel offended
- Hey guys! Steve is not really dead!
- What?
- Yes! It appears that doctor was holding his hand the wrong way.
- Seems to be too short antenna problem.
