EDIT: Wow the board is slow. I responded within seconds and it was like 12 minute late lol

 I don't understand what you mean when you say "when i do it independently.."
When I launched the app from windows explorer, it crashed my computer lol.

1. FARR does not let you configure hotkeys to launch specific apps.  You can configure hotkeys to bring up FARR with specific search text initialized, which could mostly be used for the same purpose, but FARR is not meant to be used to make lots of hotkeys for specific apps.  Having said that, i COULD add the feature without too much trouble, so maybe i will.  But i would caution against over using it.  There are good general purpose hotkey tools for that.

*gets down on knees* This would be VERY appreciated. I really don't want to run another app for this if possible and I know your implementation would be clean, decisive and extremely portable (which is critical for me)

With that said, do you have any recommendations on "good general hotkey tools"? I tried looking for some and couldn't find any.  Windows 8.1's shortcut method forces you to use the CTRL key leading the shortcut and is very unreliable.

Unfortunately, though, I'm pretty sure that CovArt Ops currently supports embedded cover art in mp3 files only.

Yes, there's the answer. Tha'ts why it's not detecting it? All of my files are embedded m4a files.  I guess it's a no-go for me then in this regard

hi skwire,
I have the coverart inside of the m4a files, but it is showing every folder I have for music.  What am I doing wrong?

Also, could we get a right click option for 'go to original file' or something along those lines when I right click under any entry in the filename column?

Hi skwire.
I wanted to request if you could fix something. I guess the TrackErr is not unicode friends and thus my files that are in non-english language are being shown as 'missing' or 'unplayable'.  I assure you these music files are present and playable with foobar, musicbee and winamp (confirmed).

Here's a pic for proof:

Any chance of getting this fixed?

OK I have a critical bug/issue report on CovArt Ops.

I tried to scan my music collection and it showed me 1452 entries. wtf? I had meticulously made sure all of them had CovArt Ops; I think what's happening is CovArt Ops is seeing my m3u files and saying those don't have a picture.

Can we exclude m3u, m3u8 and any other format created by (the one and only!) s_playlistmaker?

Hi hamradio.

Long time donationcoder reader. Somehow missed your app. I have been looking for something similar for AGES.

I am having a lot of problems even just settings thing up.

On launch of PortableExtensionWarlock.exe

I get the following error:

Error while loading Portable Extension Warlock data.

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I click OK and go into the app.

i try to add an entry and get this error

Index and length must refer to a location within the string.

Parameter name: length

Please help! I really, really want to get PEW working :(

Hi mouser,
Long time no see! I have finally decided to use FARR as my #1 launcher. If I use it 100% of the time, you can be assured I will be an active member of this forum. I have been told I am the absolutely grandmaster of breaking things, so if there's any issues/potential improvements in FARR, I will find them :)

Anyways, here's a few things (running latest version)

1. (Urgent)  How to do I launch apps using hotkeys? For example, I want to launch Chrome with ALT+C.  There is a shortcut in the folder for Chrome, so I would like to assign it to launch using ALT+C.  Oh mouser. Please o please o please tell me FARR can do this.  If not, I want to beg and plead you if you could implement it somehow. It's the only thing keeping me from using your app 100% of my time.  I tried reading the help, fiddling around for hours but could not figure out how to do this.

1. I know FARR launches QuickDocLauncher.exe, but when I do it independently it launches and closes and takes up 100%.  There is literally no way to recover from this unless I log off or restart. Not a big deal, but I am guessing this shouldnt happen.

2. Icons are not showing in shortcuts created by UACpass. This is definitely what seems to be a deficiency in FARR, as windows and any other program sees the original icons.
Here's an pic of the problem:

EDIT: I think some explanation is in order.  I created a custom shortcut using the program UACpass to run the app in TRUE (Win 7+) admin priveledges without prompting me.  My UAC switch in CP is at the highest level.  Here is an example of the shortcut. It points to schtasks.exe, but there is an icon associated with the shortcut. It seems FARR is trying to poll the icon from the original icon instead of the shortcut.
Here's the shortcut: C:\Windows\System32\schtasks.exe /run /tn "UAC pass\pia_manager"

3. It seems like FARR is not respecting the setting for launching folders in the 'custom app' I set (XYplorer). It does so under most cases, but not all. For example, If I type C:\test in FARR it will launch fine in XYplorer. However, if I launch a shortcut for C:\Test it will launch the folder in Windows 8.1 64bit. Is this intended?

Thanks skwire!! I can confirm it works now.  ;D

Thanks for keeping this app updated. It has been invaluable in getting my music collection in order!

wanted to submit a possible bug report about the latest version (v1.08)

The latest feature that was added -- quit after making m3u file -- does not work if a folder is sent to sPlaylistmaker via the 'sendto' menu.  I do this often to save myself some time. The m3u is created but the app remains running.  If I do it the 'normal' way (meaning open the app and then drag the folder) it works.

Is this something you'd be able to fix?

I did some googling based on the erorr I got and found Movie Rotator.  It's not portable (uses Roaming folder for log), but it's lightweight, open source, free, and works.
It's also stupidly simple. Converts to .mp4 as well.

I always get  The file "C:\" is of an unknown or unsupported file type with VirtualDub :(

I have searched far and wide and I cannot find an app that does this easily and rapidly.

Basically, here's the problem:

iPhones and iPads (along with many other devices) record based on their orientation. They record to AVC / MPEG4  / .MOV containers.
Anyways, if  you have the iPhones oriented the 'wrong' way (for example, straight up), the video will record sideways and virtually all video players will display them sideways (Zoomplayer, VLC, MPC-HD, etc.)  The only player that correctly reads the EXIF tag is Quicktime, the most bloated, crappy player of all.

Anyways, I have all but given up trying to get developers of Zoomplayer or madVR to implement some sort of auto-rotate option, so I am turning to the source material.

I just want an app that you drag to the window and it reads the EXIF tag and rotates the video permanently accordingly.  Alternatively, one can specify how the video is to be rotated (90 C, 90CC, 180,  etc etc).

Is this at all possible?   There are many, many people who would benefit from an app like this.  I haven't found any app on the web that does this easily. If I missed something, please speak up!!

Also, a very late update to this thread.  The beloved "Alfred" on mac will do this with some tweaking.

For those of you browsing this thread, I found a new tool called "Multi search" for Chrome.

"Perform searches with your favourite search engines from the Context Menu and straight from the Omnibox."

It doesn't work with Omnibox anymore but it still works with Context Menu

That fixed it mouser.

Thank you so much.

Haha awesome! :Thmbsup:

The FARR solution is not as elegant as an javascript entry in Chrome, but it's the next best thing.

I am not sure what to look for when you say 3rd party tool.  When I right click  "open all bookmarks" it rapidly opens all of my bookmarks.

UPDATE: mouser, do you think it might FARR causing the slowness?   I just tested it with a custom BAT file and it loads perfectly in Chrome. Takes a split second to open all the links. Try it for yourself!

start chrome.exe ""
start chrome.exe ""
start chrome.exe ""
start chrome.exe "startrek"
start chrome.exe ""

Just as an example, there's a built in alias in FARR called "define", which basically defines a number of web searches for a word you type.

Type "define urgent" and you'll see this: (see attachment in previous post)
Now if you hit Enter it will open the FIRST result -- or you can trigger the individual results you want.

Or -- and this is what you asked for - you can hit Ctrl+Alt+Enter to open ALL results at once (which in your browser should open each in it's own tab).

This works, but it is painfully slow!!!.  For some reason, it takes roughly 5 seconds (measured it with stopwatch) for each entry to appear (browser window popup). Some of the entries will have about 20 metasearches which makes it really painful to search. I couldn't find a setting that said "wait 5 seconds before launching each page".  This is in the latest version of Chrome (Version 31.0.1650.63 m).

Why doesn't it just launch them all at once, rapidly? I am forced to force-kill FARR to get it to stop opening 25 aliases at 5 seconds a pop :D

UPDATE: mouser, there is a problem with that method.

I will be having several "meta aliases".

For example, I'll have one for eBooks, music, movies, anime,  etc.. About 7 of them. Your method won't work for more than 1 alias right? Or will it?

You could do this very easily using Find and Run Robot.  Once you created an "alias" to do this, you could share it with others easily as well.

What the deuce?!  I have used Robot before and didn't realize. STAND BY... I am trying as I type this!!

Here are some other javascript suggestions:

    function() {
        var s = escape("%s");
        var t = "Multisearch - "+s;
        var yahoo  = "*-"+s+"&fr=yfp-t-501&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8";
        var google = ""+s+"&sourceid=opera&num=%i&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8";
        var googlemaps = ""+s+"&btnG=Adressen+suchen";
        var googleimages = ""+s+"&btnG=Bilder-Suche";
            "<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC '-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Frameset//EN' ''><html><head><title>"
            + t
            + "</title></head><frameset rows='50%,50%' cols='50%, 50%'><frame src='"
            + google
            + "'><frame src='"
            + yahoo
            + "'><frame src='"
            + googlemaps
            + "'><frame src='"
            + googleimages
            + "'></frameset></html>"

    function() {
        var s=escape("%s");

Found a autoit script that someone made, but tried to compile it, run it and had to force reboot my comp (lol) since it kept going without stopping. Maybe it can help

Hi guys,

This is culmination of 13 hours of google searching and I still have not figured out a way to do this in chrome.  I am turning to you guys!

Basically, I want to be able to type "am" (short for anime meta) and a search string in my Chrome address bar OR an a small app and have it launch the resulting search entries in new tabs/windows (prefer tabs).

For example: I type  am <search string>   or  am naruto  and that will search the following sites (I replaced the search query with %s)

FakeSite1   http://www.FakeSite1...h/search?searchitem="+s+"&searchradio=releases&submit.x=0&submit.y=0
FakeSite3  http://www.FakeSite3...p;filter=0&term="+s+"

It will popup 3 popups (or prefer tabs) with Bakaupdates / BakaBT / Nyaatorrents
here's some background threads where this was achievable in Opera. I cannot get any of these working in Chrome.  :(   I am CERTAIN this is not that hard, but I am at a loss as to how to proceed next.

Some background threads.

There are a handful of people who want this very specialized function for years.  Please help!
