AcroDictionary!
AcroDictionary is here!  AcroDictionary basically is a dictionary for acronyms.  Hit shift+ctrl+d and up comes a long list of acronyms, the list currently contains 1,791 acronyms, the list will grow.  I must give my biggest thanks to JoTo on the IRC Chat, he helped so much in developing the program to what it is, this of course is the snail version, I don't think the normal version is enough to be released to this point.  I hope to add a simple button or two to delete and add acronyms, soon.  Of course these will most likely not be in the snail version, unless testing proves they don't take much.  Basically the snail version sacrifices loading times for memory conservation.  Loading time on a gateway standard pc, with a 2.6mghz processor, with 256mb RAM and Integrated graphics loading times take 3-5 seconds.  Of course times may vary.  App on the IRC chat plans to test it on her "snail" and I will post the results, soon.

Anyways, you use the dictionary by typing in shift+ctrl+d, you search by pressing shift+ctrl+h.  This is considered Alpha, so bugs will most likely be found.  You may notice checkboxes under the search list view, those will be fixed in the next version, they were a simple test, and will only be included in the original version unless the snail version can handle that feature.  Anyways enough chattering, here it is!  Please report any bugs you find and enjoy!  Thank you! :)

Also, if you want to donate, please consider JoTo, this program wouldn't be running without his help, hes probaly gonna hate me for this, but don't donate to me, donate to him. :)

Another note, you will find some crude acronyms, if you would like a less crude version, please let me know. :)

EDIT: Removed due to lack of interest.

I went ahead and was the 1st to download (yay!) and it has...a ton of acronyms. It starts up in about 1 second on my PC, so that makes me happy. This makes it more convenient to tell what "sum pplz r teh syn" in instant messages :).

AcroLiminator 1.0 Stable
This is the stable version of AcroLiminator, it only makes a few very simple changes.  Read below to see them. :)  Please feel free to critique and comment.
Change log
1. Added TrayTips ( message boxes that appear above the task bar, will not work in anything lower then windows 2000, this means it will work in Windows 2000, XP, and Vista.)
2. Made the installation tool a bit more proffessional.
3. Added suspend and un suspend hotkeys, use ctrl+shift+p to suspend, and ctrl+shift+s to un suspend.

I will provide screenshots if anyone wants them, the only screenshot I can prove are the TrayTips.

Yea!  But what is with this line?

AcroDictionary is no longer a project done by me.

Who is doing it now?

No one is doing AcroDictionary, I have discontinued the development of it.  Also do you have any requests for features to add?

Too bad.  The wife liked the idea - but I figured AcroLiminator will work as a dictionary of sorts anyway.  Just type it in and run AcroLiminator to figure it out.

As for AcroLiminator, I just saw that you put out 1.0, so I will be looking at that before I see any new requests.  The wife got her computer up and running too, so now we will put 1.0 on for her.  She does a lot of typing for the mortgage industry, so I am sure she will use it a lot.  If there are any requests, I am sure she will have them.  I will certainly let you know.

Okay, thank you very much. :)  And yes, I saw too much similaritys between AcroDictionary and AcroLiminator to develop both.

Its here!! Yes AcroLiminator 2.0 has landed!  With it comes an all new way of deleting and adding acronyms!! Also, AcroLiminator is now a part of the excellent CompuTech suite of programs!!  Read below for instructions of how to delete and add acronyms.

To delete aronyms, press ctrl+shift+d, and type in the acronym.

To add acronyms, just hit ctrl+shift+a, and type in first the acronym you want to use, hit ok, and then type the extended you want to add.

Great thanks to everyone here, including mouser, JoTo, and SteelAdept.  Please report any bugs or errors you find. Thanks!

I think you are underestimating AcroDictionary. It is a very fine glossary, but should really be a part of large all-round Dictionaries / Encyclopedias / Glossaries. I know I would love to have AcroDictionary as an integrated part of my Babylon! Please have a look at Babylon Glossary Builder. It would be such a waste to allow your fine glossary not to be used.

Head up, Walt, you have done a very fine job on AcroDictionary, don't let it be wasted! Go another mile, please!

Will you please consider to add option to change hotkeys? For seven years I have been using Ctrl+Shift+S to activate my screensaver - I am not likely to change that.

Loki, son of Odin, brother of Thor (unless you're not that Loki):

I just saw that you were back in action with v2 of AcroLiminator instead of letting it RIP as indicated in earlier postings. Good for you! On the other hand, you always were a bit of a trickster :)

Take heart! Sometimes even great things take a while to catch on.

@Curt: I will glady look at that! Acrodictionary is not dead, just not being developed, I will work on changing the hotkeys, do you have any other ideas you would like me to change.  Also the new version will have Ctrl+Shift+Q for that specific command.  Expect the new version sometime today. :)

@Ken: Hehe, Thats what I was aiming for! Yes, I understand even the greatest things have taken time to catch on, I will gladly continue to develop AcroLiminator. :)

Very nice and easy to add and delete acronyms, but I thought of one instance that might be a problem.  If you enter a typo and (therefore) the acronym doesn't take, how can you determine what you did put in so it can be removed?

Also, there should be a check to verify that a space is not an acronym.  I did that by accident, and it got very annoying popping up to ask if "   " wanted to be expanded.  It took me a bit to figure out what I did and then be able to remove it.

I don't have excel, ...
- no excuse!   8)  Try [Edit: deleted]this $5 (FIVE) link - but maybe you'll first have to be a registered user of a program of their's. But you know you can trial Ashampoo Office 2006 for free for 40 days - that is more than long enough for a speedy gonzales like you...

Cool, Curt! Hadn't noticed this offer coming around again. This is the exact same software as the $69.99 SoftMaker Office 2006 and is well worth the money!

Hey Curt - just FYI I was going to post about the discount here, so that Wales could take advantage of it. When I went to paste in the shortcut to the offer, I realised that it includes your e-mail address and other identifying info about you (you might therefore want to edit it out).
