Nobody yet?  Ugh...I'm never going to find this.  $5 donation credits to whoever finds it.  Dead or alive.

More description please...
Did it also launch applications?
What exactly autohid? The virtual window part?
Is it mentioned in my Virtual Window Managers Mini-review?
Was it DM2?
Was it mentioned here?

It's not called a virtual desktop manager, that's why I'm having a hard time finding it.  It's not DM2.  It's not in those threads you mentioned, I read those many times since yesterday.  I think mouser mentioned it in a little software discovery thread, like, "this is cool, check it out."
I don't really remember what it did.  I know, that's not helpful.  It was like a desktop manager, but it had all this power that I didn't understand at the time.  From what I remember, it had this main window that could be autohid on the edge of the screen, and inside this window you could arrange your icons like you would on your desktop, but it could do more than that.  Maybe it would launch those applications, or maybe the way you placed the icons mattered.  I don't remember.
It was supposed to be very powerful, but I was impatiently fiddling around with it and I couldn't figure out what was the purpose of the program.

i'm not sure whether these are the ones but i can think of these two: goScreen & DeskMan.

Here are some mouser posts on the subject:

Virtuawin
TakeControl - this one looks like a contender, to me!

Crap! Take Control has lost control - looks like it's gone, gone, gone... I'm trying to find an updated link to it via Google but so far, no luck  :(

Update:

Here's a functioning link to the beta from 2005.

and a link to a description of the renamed application called Get Control form 2006. Unfortunately, the download link doesn't work... but this one does (choose the second download link - server 2).

Well, the name "Take Control" doesn't ring a bell.  It took a while to find the right links, but I saw the screenshot and it's not what I was looking for.  UGh!!!  I almost thought you had it there, Darwin!

Hmmm... I searched the forum for Mouser and desktop (I think... might have been "virtual desktop"0 and got 8 pages of hits. Those two were the only two that looked promising!

Hmmm, mouser just said he thinks it's something he found at shellcity.  So I was browsing the site, and I came across this:
SideSLide

Mouser's post for it here.

This could be it, I'll let you know in a minute.  The only question left...will mouser allow me to give him $5 without ripping my head off for it.

Yup this is the one!  Man, that was one of my hardest searches in a long time.  Yes!  THanks mouser!  It was killing me!

I don't know about the program yet, I don't know if I like it or not.  Obviously, I tried it a long time ago and didn't use it.  So I'll post back a little later.  Of course, I didn't like InfoQube (SQLNotes) in the beginning either.
