Master of Defense - Another Great Tower Defense Game
« on: December 31, 2006, 05:48 PM »
As someone who always felt overwhelmed by the complicated strategy games, I really have fallen in love with these tower defense games recently.  To me they are the perfect example of games you can jump right into and have fun, and only worry about deeper strategy later as you want.

Plus for me a huge plus is the pure enjoyment of watching the emergent interactions of the creatures and defenses.  It's the perfect combination of a toy and a game.

I still think the free Curator Defense is my favorite just because of its pure simplicity.  But if you are looking for a richer deeper experience, here's a shareware game which has some nice graphics and a much longer gameplay with much more variety:

Master Of Defense is a wonderful strategy game that lets you assume the role of a brave hero, who has been chosen to save the ancient kingdom from the hordes of monsters. The challenge of the game is to ward off relentless attacks of monsters and prevent them from capturing people in your castle.  You do this by building towers on the way of the hordes and casting spells. Defeating monsters yields rewards.   You get rewarded for every killed monster and gain a bonus at the end of each attack. To improve your winning chances, you must invest into building new towers and upgrading the old ones in order to increase their firepower, fire speed and range.

I think i'd like to try my hand at making one of these games.. Maybe we could do it as a team project?  We will need some good graphics folks.  Anyone interested?

Dang the demo ends just as it starts to get really good! Good timing, I'd say!

The AI is a little infuriating in this one with how it picks which one to shoot at, sometimes picking the one closest to the back of the line rather than the nearest threat, but still fun!

We dont share license keys here - if you like the game a lot, buy it.
Also search our forum for lots of free defense style games.

While I don't usually play games much, you had me interested there.

While reading the post here, I had a few thoughts:

1) Oh - Yeah! I got a license key you can have "F***INGBUYITCHEAPOITSONLY20BUCKS"
2) Damn mouser, I'll probably end up hating you because it's addictive (while installing the game)
3) Drat... won't run on this box... Probably for the best :)

But I'll probably end up hating you anyways mouser... Now I really want a new game to play... I'm just too good at Dicewars now!  :D

Alright, I already searched the forums, found a cool Flash game, wasted a ton of time... And you're only giving me more reasons to hate you mouser! :)

Thanks! :D

Cheers,

Ryan

YES!! Go for it!

Few things would please me more than to see someone at donationcoder create a tower defense game and involve us in the process.  I stand ready to help test, give feedback, even offer some small prize on behalf of donationcoder.  And others here would as well, maybe also providing some artwork, music, etc.

Drop by the irc chat channel when you have some time (see Chat button at top).

I think the most important thing, based on experience i've had working with others, is to figure out what would be a reasonable project/goal that could be achieved and implemented in the time you have.

One of my biggest problems is getting carried away with ideas and then eventually they grow too big and you get un-motivated.

So some planning ahead of time will go along way -- and figure out a good small game to make that won't drive you to the bring of insanity and exhaustion.  (you can save the exhaustion and insanity for version 2 of your game).

Why not start a new thread in the Developer's Corner section of the forum: https://www.donation...index.php?board=75.0

Title it something informative like "Requesting help with ideas on making a Tower Defense Game"
And tell everyone a little about your background, what language you might want to program it in, etc.
