What are Mouser plan for this tool?
« on: August 21, 2024, 05:27 AM »
Hello, I am long time HAPPY user of @MOUSER utilities (CHS, SC, ESR, FARR, and others) and I am worried because I think there will be no update/evolution.
I would like to know @Mouser opinion on this and some suggestion on possible substitutions o utilities which are going to become obsolete as technology progress (basically with Windows 11 step)
Thanks for any clarification and for the all good work you have done with this products time going.
By the way, I would not have problem to pay some fee for supporting these tools running.

We'd certainly love to see the tools making a come-back in full modernized glory!

Thanks for any clarification and for the all good work you have done with this products time going.

I second the gratitude toward @Mouser. Many thanks for everything you do dear Jesse!

On my side, it would be an honor to help Jesse/Mouser with bringing these tools to the "modern era" (as per the definition of modernity that users may have these days!).

The core point would be for them to have the one and true "Mouser's Blessing™" & seal of approval :)

I know that programs are "our babies" and the most important thing is for any clone/update to keep their original "spirit", with the overseeing eye of the original creator :-*

Just wanted to step-in as I believe I have the necessary skills to execute such an update and it would be an honor to make Jesse's life better, so he doesn't have to spend time re-coding what he so generously already did share

My 2 cents in positive willingness,
Vic

I don't know (as I'm still on Windows 10) -- have there been problems with mouser's software on Windows 11 ?

Not with ScreenshotCaptor (used nearly daily) or any of the other tools, in ~2.5 years since I'm using Win11 (new laptop came with Win11).

I haven't had any problems either, and many of them are in day to day rotation (screenshot captor, FARR, ESR). Not sure where the concerns are coming from.

Not sure where the concerns are coming from.

Given that the core functionality of most Tools remains largely unchanged across updates, perhaps this:

I am worried because I think there will be no update/evolution.

May refer to the user interface's "modern look" (theme) and "responsive adaptation" to multiple screen sizes such as Phone, Tablet, Laptop, Desktop, TV...

Functionally, the updates are incremental, so the most significant area for immediate improvement lies in the GUI itself. Some tools may even be complete in terms of their intended purpose, requiring no further updates at this time.

Ultimately, this is a question best answered by Hilario. :)

Personally, I only have gratitude to Mouser/Jesse for dedicating the time to create his tools & everything he continues to do behind the scenes  :-*
