Grab selected region makes screen go big
« on: January 30, 2022, 07:35 PM »
Trying to use Grab Selected Region. When I invoke it, it makes all the images on the screen go large, like at a lower resolution. I can't use this feature at all.

Are you using the latest version of Screenshot Captor?

Yes, 4.36.1 Weird, in doing something else, I turned of "replace command prompt with powershell" then I turned it back on. The problem is no longer there and Screencapture acts normally for Grab Selected Region.

It may not be related to that powershell thing, but it may be if the monitor resolutions changed since SC was started that can do it -- restarting SC will also fix that if monitor configuration has changed since it was started.

If you haven't seen "The IT crowd", that is your loss. Even if you are not that fond of British comedy. But if you did see it, you are very familiar with the phrase "Have you tried turning it off an on again?" The solution for practically everything :)

@mouser - this sounds related to the issue I reported earlier.

LOL I'm not familiar with it. And yes, turning it off and on again is something that I am familiar with. My previous post was after restarting the computer twice--which is restarting the app. Thanks for your comment, I enjoyed it. :)

I'm still experiencing the original problem--hitting PrtScrn, which is my hotkey for "Grab Selected Region," makes the screen go big and selecting a region useless. I have to exit Screenshot Captor and restart it for it to work. So annoying.

Most likely another tool is (also) hooking into that hotkey, most notably OneDrive IIRC, please try to (temporarily) change the hotkey for this feature and see if it still behaves like that

OK, I've been using it since my last post and changed my hotkey to invoke and it still does it.

Well, sadly, I'm going to uninstall this and go with Greenshot. I've used Screenshot Captor since it was first released. I've loved it. But for over 10 months now it's been doing this with no solution in sight. And it really is annoying to have to exit out of it and restart it every time.
