how tall is Cody?
« on: September 01, 2006, 10:38 AM »
I'd like to know how tall everyone thinks Cody is, as it will help me do some DC/Cody things I'm doing - or I may just ignore the result if Cody tells me to.

as suggested by mouser, here are a few work-in-progress wallpapers that have different sizes of Cody in them. (I will upload the finished versions, and more besides, when the size issue has been resolved.)

a subject near and dear to my heart..

perhaps it would be useful also to post a couple of screenshots of him on the path at different sizes, to let people visually choose how tall he looks in a landscape?

In my opinion (s)he's not of a fixed size - grows with the task ahead.

But usually small and cuddly, able to sit in my hand.

I always thought Cody was a dove...and the size of a dove.

Man, I love your graphical style.

Of the first two (beach) pictures, I like the second one with the smaller cody best.

I'm pleased you like it f0dder.

I think the adult human sized Cody isn't going to be that popular. the problem, as I discussed with mouser, is that the DC forum banners indicate that Cody is the same size as the white figures - so either Cody does appear to change size depending on the picture - or I need to change the perspective of the figures and Cody so that they are all the same size but only about 12 inches tall - yes, the people will be small also.

I agree with f0dder...the smaller beach one.

The other one makes me think he's related to Big Bird.

Man... These images are incredible!
Will you make wallpapers?
I sure would use them (they are way better than a picture of me acting silly on disneyland )!
If you do, could i suggest widescreen versions?  :-[

BTW, looks like i'm the only one who likes cody bigger. Only because it makes people understand that the main mascot is cody and not the men on the image. Still, i go for knee high, since he's on my sign using a computer. I do think he's looking a bit short on the second picture, though.

there will be normal 4:3 ratio wallpapers, wide screen 16:10 ratio and dual screen double the 4:3 size.

it still too early to say just how big Cody is.

and I'd like opinions on how big the white figures are meant to be also. please.

I suppose that is related to how big cody is, aren't this figurines supposed to be man-sized?

well, they are meant to be man-sized but according the the donationcoder banners, Cody is the same size as the people, if not a little bigger - or if you look at the banner at the top of this page he's a giant.

so I guess, Cody does have the magical ability to change size. the only important thing really is to decide how big he is for these wallpapers that I'm in the process of doing.

i think the "people" are just in cody's imagination, so they can change size.

Ok, I hate to be rational here and poo in everybody's parade, but if cody carries a coin, and we all know the approximate size of a coin, then cody's size is determined by that. I'd say palm-sized.

Damn, that's a good point!

Still, i like the idea of having a giant godzilla-sized cody walking around the donationcoder.com headquarters in illinois!  ;D

i must say i never thought about that. but if you look close you'll see that it's not a real coin anyway (i know, i know, we all know it's not a 'real' coin), so perhaps the coin is actually the size of a manhole cover.

i think i'm favouring the cody takes the size of whatever is required for the situation. but in a landscape setting he'll be about 12 inches tall.

I agree...but thinking of him that size makes me think of him as having a lower IQ. I don't know why.

I prefer thinking of him as smaller and with the fierceness of a shrike, when necessary. (he'd throw Big Bird on a barbed wire fence and have him for lunch)

I always thought of him as the size of a regular bird. Maybe like a big chicken, or as the poll asks, about 12 inches. But when I saw the poll I also saw the banner at the top of the page where Cody is bigger than the people. So I voted for Sasquatch size.

Are those human people on that banner?

They look like toy people to me...like the wooden peg people I played with when I was very young...about the current size of my thumb.

If that were to be the case, then Cody could still be the size of a dove.

i agree with app, i don't think those are human sizes people - i think they are cody's "toys".

app103.  You're so right!  Seeing it this way even makes the "people" more likeable.  I didn't really like thinking they represented actual people, but I love seeing them as little toys that are peeping up with things to say to Cody, who might be about the size of a hand-held plush toy of indeterminate size.  Makes Cody seem wise, but still cuddly.
