Artists: Share your artwork with the forum!
« on: March 19, 2018, 07:48 PM »
I know we have some artists out there on the forum (painters, sculptors, illustrators.. digital or analog).  One of the best things about this site is when members share their lives with us a little bit.

Please share a little bit of your artwork with us, and tell us a little bit about what motivates you and when you enjoy doing, etc.

And I'm not talking about professional artists, just people who enjoy creating art... We just want to share a little in your life!

So, who has the guts to go first?

Actually let me sort of force someone else to go first by sharing some photos of the paintings that made me think to start this thread.
Long time DC member cranioscopical recently mentioned a website he had made for the paintings of his wife (Barbara Bickell),  and I was blown away by them.

The website is http://www.barbarabickell.ca.

Here are just a few of my favorites:

barb1.jpg barb2.jpg barb3.jpg barb4.jpg barb5.jpg barb6.jpg barb5b.jpg barb7.jpg

I am completely captivated and mesmerized by them.. Amazing.

Ok now don't let those intimidate you -- this thread is for everyone here to share their work, no matter your level of skill... Show us what you got!

Well calling Barbara Bickell arts as doodles will be wrong. I also am astonished how extraordinary her arts are, than we normally perceive. My congratulation to her.

I do not get time to doodle, but my son used to do some on the computer when he was 4/5 years. If Ok then I will search for them in hdd and post.

Regards,

Anand

thanks for picking out those -- there are some lovely paintings there.
My favourites from those are the Goldfinch with wallpaper behind, and the Chickadee on the sewing machine. I grew up with one of those sewing machines, one of my sisters still has it:

I say go for it.
I reckon I was at my most creative around the age of four -- came across this (again) lately:
a painting done for St. Patrick's day (hence the harps; the green for shamrock: we used wear coloured paper harp brooches on our lapels with a bunch of shamrock) apparently painted at the age of four. Back of picture also of interest :-)

Precocious child! When I was four I thought it proper to hold a paintbrush by the furry end.

Getting back to the art --

I like yours there too mouser:
the first text one, is there a story there in the written text?

and is there a story in (or behind) the text in this one?

Yeah both of those have a little poetry stream-of-consciousness text in them, nothing important or relevant to the drawings.

Hi, tomos; uh, I don't have a tradition, per se.  I like Fra Angelico, though.

 I loved many of the early renaissance painters when in college (well, still do when I look at them again) -- sent you a PM on the topic.

Here is a Paschal Candle:

I know about candles  and I know about Easter  and I know that Christ is Alpha and Omega because of Easter,  but I have never before seen  or even read  or heard about  Easter Candles! Yep, we really are Lutherans up here (Denmark / Scandinavia).

These candles are really nice to look at, BGM. Thank you for showing them!

I was so enamored of the Number 6 painting by Barb, that I just had to have one of my own.. Here is my special Number 24:
number24_temporaryhome.jpg
number24_closeup.jpg

This won't be its permanent home -- I just want to be able to keep an eye on that little bird while he settles in to make sure he doesn't try to zoom off.  Then I'll hang this someplace where it has a little more room to breathe.

I'd like it clean, or with a minimal frame, but I have been proved wrong with my ideas in the past ;-)
