Weird Firefox hangs since 40.x?

Is anyone else on Windows getting weird FF hangs since 40.x?  I backed off from 40.02 to 40.0.  Still getting spinning circles in tabs and weird hangs.  Think I am going back to 39.03.  That was more stable if I remember rightly.

Too soon to say for sure.  But 39.03 seems much better at remaining responsive.

Could "Encrypted Media Extensions" (EME) be the problem? Like some of the other new Firefox browsers, version 40.0.2 also comes in a "EME-free" version: https://ftp.mozilla.....0.2/win32-EME-free/ I am running this version and it is faster than the normal 40.0.2 - but other than the speed, I don't understand or sense what's the difference.

I am starting to really like Slimjet chrome.  On the same idea as Mustang but without the lags.  Now it is the only chrome based browser I have.  Trying to cheat an use sync with more than one chrome based browser on the same machine invariably ends up with duplicate something or other.  It seems no matter how many users ask for an overwrite mode for sync they act like they don't hear it.

So far the only thing I don't like on Slimjet is if you want to save user id and password for a site you just logged into it wants to make you fill the stuff in again.  A pretty weird idea of "convenience" I must say.

check you have OMTC disabled (in about:config layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled should be false)

So it's possible (likely even?) some of the crashes here are not related to the original report.

Don't know about that.  But it seems no matter which FF version I run I see periods where it goes unresponsive.  I suspect all that stuff it does as you type now fills up the queues with crap.  I might only have 2 tabs open not doing anything yet and they sit with spinning circles even though the network is live.  Stranger all the time.

My Firefox with Adobe Flash version 19 started hanging on YouTube, so I cheked for Flash update and was told my version 19 was older than version 18. I downdated and the browsing was smooth again. In the local school (here in Copenhagen, Denmark) they are no longer counting from one to ten (1-10), but are seriously teaching the kids to count from naught to nine (0-9). There's something rotten in the kingdom of Denmark, as well as in the kingdom of Adobe. I am feeling sad.

I don't have flash problems so much as the thing goes unresponsive for no apparent reason.  I open a tab when only one is open and everything freezes either for 20 seconds or I have to kill it.  I don't remember FF being this funky.  Slimjet chrome works better but it uses more CPU and doesn't have as many AddOns as I would like.

I disabled uBlock Origin and installed AdBlockPlus instead.  So far it hasn't gone unresponsive.  It still fights me when I try to scroll.  But at least it works.
