Hmm,

Also, a good question would be, do you really stick to it? And if so, what proportion of your time goes to just mocking around with the system that you have in place?

I use Evernote and Agendus.  I have set up a very solid GTD system using Evernote, and I have always used Agendus for calendar based items.

My blackberry has appointment reminders... I don't seem to use anything else.  Not having a job helps in that vein.  :P

Calendarscope, but currently on strike from that program as i don't want to pay the $19.95 upgrade fee.  $9.95 every 12 months, regardless of version progression? (which is what they do) that would be reasonable.  $19.95 is a bit much for something that evolves so slowly.  But it is good.

I have a very nice older copy of 3m post-it software notes...but that's a pain in my butt and I don't remember to look at them.

At least with the real paper ones I can stick them places that will catch my attention...like on my microwave...or my alarm clock next to my bed.

And the wall calendar is my daughter's domain...she is better than an alarm you set.

Wow, so many people don't use anything...
I missed a hugely important talk last week so I'm trying to be consistent... I'm using MLO.

I couldn't live without my cell phone's calendar, which I use several times a day, even for minor things/tasks. Pretty helpful, since you don't have to carry around another piece of hardware.

I'm in the process of switching over (at least for most stuff) to MyLifeOrganized. Still, it's got a bit of a learning curve, so I'm taking it slow. My most recent reminder tool is RainLendar, a gorgeous skinnable calendar that's really handy. It has an "always on bottom" ability to keep it on your desktop, variable transparency, all kinds of customizability, and while it's not updated every week or month, the author keeps making steady improvements.

There's a similar tool to monitor local system (and other) stats called RainMeter by the same guy, infinitely skinnable and also scriptable. It'll even do weather with a free plugin. Very creative tools; www.rainlendar.net is an easier-to-remember URL if you don't like the one linked above.

'rainlendar' is a great little app. almost everyone who has seen it on my monitor has asked what it is and then downloaded it.

I rely on Outlook for scheduling meetings and appointments but its a pain in the neck to quickly check dates or open if it is not already opened.

I recently tried and ended up buying Remind-Me http://www.beiley.com/remind-me/index.html.  It's the only program I could find that can fully synchronize in either direction with the Outlook calendar (with an extra add on package).

At US$40 it's a bit pricey but after using the demo I found I couldn't live without it.  I always have it running in the system tray to refer to, and to quickly revise appointments/meetings which can later by synched with Outlook.

jdd,
The last edition (1.7) of MLO seems to do reminders AND talk to outlook well (dunno how well as I don't use outlook).

Rainlendar is worth a look, then, at least for fun since you bought something already -- it has a free Outlook plugin.

Rainlendar is worth a look, then, at least for fun since you bought something already -- it has a free Outlook plugin.

I had already checked out Rainlender.  It's nice (and free) but the Oulook plug-in is one-directional, meaning you still have update the Outlook calendar directly.  With Remind-me, you can update the Remind-Me calendar and you can synch from Outlook to RM or RM to Outlook, or to both.....not sure I explained that very well.

If you work with Outlook and "Accept" meeting invitations, then you may appreciate the value of the synching ability of RM.

I have a laptop which serves a dual role for both work and play.  Since I am pretty much shackled to Outlook for planning things, I need something that talks with outlook.  Otherwise RM would have little value to me.

MLO, on the otherhand, is in a different league.  There are way too many many bells and whistles for my simple needs.  I read the description of the Outlook plug-in and it seems that it is not up to par with the synching ability of RM, but admittadly i did not install it to test it out.

I believe there's a mini-review by a member of DC!
But i can't find the correct link. Here's a thread that has that mini-review outside of DC: https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=2623.0

They give me Outlook at work which is used enterprise wide.

At home it's nice to get away from such things, but my wife runs an awsome wall calendar with a neat manual birthday update routine that runs at the start of each year!!
