Thanks, guys.  Now you can customise those colours (and set a custom listview font).

Simple and easy tool , love it :-*, especially the abilities of .....
1) copy and paste directly to Excel spreadsheet
2) export to a [.csv] file
3) double-click-line connect to the stock page at Yahoo.
Make it very useful for people like me keeping stocks in Excel.

On the other end, the manual one-by-one input process is not really friendly to a long list of stocks/alerts.
Wish I could quickly input/update a new list of stocks by ...
1) copy and paste 3 columns (symbol/High alert/ Low Alert) of content directly from Excel spreadsheet
2) delete all selected (by shift or control click) symbols

It would very nice to allow different groups of stocks ...
3) new/open/save groups with names such as value-stock, Roth-IRA etc.
(save files as [value-stock.lst], [Roth-IRA.lst], etc.)
4) import from a [.csv] file (append or as a new group)
(Currently I go back-door to change the [stocks.lst] for these things... :P)

Thanks!

Thank you, ceto, and welcome to the DonationCoder site.  I'm glad you're liking sStockQuote!  I'll consider your requests and add them to my ToDo list.  No ETA, though.  =]

sStockQuote Can't Display Index Data
Hi, thanks for the nice program!

The only real problem I see is that it can't display market Index data.
The caret sign is used by Yahoo! Finance.  When I add a symbol name with a caret
sStockQuote doesn't display that symbol data at all.  Could you please add the ability to show symbols like these?

^DJI       Dow Jones Industrial Average
^IXIC     NASDAQ Composite
^GSPC    S&P 500
^NYA      NYSE Composite (DJ)
^XAX      NYSE AMEX Composite Index

Hi, swallis7, and welcome to DonationCoder.   :D

The only real problem I see is that it can't display market Index data.

I noticed this, too, and did some digging.  It appears, due some licensing crap, that Yahoo is not allowed to provide downloadable data for the Dow Jones Index symbol.

It's pretty ridiculous that the DJI allows you to view their data on a webpage but not download it.   >:(

Pretty substantial update:

Website | Download
v1.0.8 - 2014-10-21
+ sStockQuote can now handle more than 200 symbols in the list.
+ Added text-to-speech option for alerts.
+ Each stock can now have a "notes" field where you can enter in whatever
textual date you like.  This data is displayed in the main stock data
      listviews.  (Thanks, P. Alby)
+ You can now specify a "Shares owned" value for each stock.  This value is
displayed in the main listviews and a "Share value" column is calculated
by multiplying the "Shares owned" value and the "Last trade" value.
+ Added an import feature by which you can mass import stock symbols.  Go
to the Options tab > List and click the Import button.  (Thanks, D. Wong)
    * Completely reworked the Options tab.
    * The alerts.lst file has been renamed to alerts.log.
! Choosing File, Exit from the menu didn't always close out the application.

Hi,

I've been using sStockquotes for quite awhile now, and I really like it. It's sitting quietly in my tray area, and pops up whenever an alert is triggered.

Yet, can I offer you a suggestion: Would it be possible to change the data provider (Yahoo, as of now) to another one? I have a real-time provider (paid for) that I would love to use with sStockquotes. So would it be a hard programmer's trick to offer different choices for data providers? That way, anyone around the world could enter their own "private" provider to be used to trigger alerts.  And Yahoo could be the default provider with delayed data.

Thanks for considering this

Thank you for your message and feedback.

If a provider has an accessible API, it's not really a matter of "hard" so much as it is one of time, effort, money, and desire.  Time for the time it takes to incorporate said API(s) into sStockQuote.  Note that each stock quote site's API is going to be different from the others.  That's where the effort part comes in; APIs are notorious for changing on a whim and trying to support multiple APIs/providers in one app gets messy quickly.  And, finally, money.  As you state, your preferred provider is a paid for type.  I just don't care enough (lack of desire) about stocks to invest money into paid sites just to develop against their APIs.   :-[

I chose Yahoo because 1) it's free (and easy enough) to develop against and 2) it's free for everybody to use.

Hi Skwire,

great little app!

I noticed that when I write a note, it is being displayed in the stock above, not in the security I put the actual note in (win10).

Thanks for taking the time to write it!
Regards, Brahman

Hi,

can this great tool be updated to use query1.finance.yahoo.com?

https://github.com/G...ric-prices-of-stocks

Or maybe you could share the list of old api requests so I could try to proxy the data.

Thank you
