The Flow software is an awesome experience, allowing you to use the same mouse, seamlessly between multiple computers (up to 3) and can copy & paste text, images, and files between them, providing they are all on the same network. It also can copy & paste between a Windows PC and a Mac. That one feature, alone, makes this mouse worth it.
Microsoft have 'mouse without borders' which does the same thing. It's a more user friendly version of synergy.
One thing to be aware of, if you are actually connected to the computer that is at the other end of the house and then you have moved control to the computer you are actually sitting at, the mouse is very very very sluggish. It took me a whole day to work that one out once!

I have not experienced that with Flow. File copy/paste between machines is a bit slower than you would have if copy/pasting from one folder to another on same machine, but that is to be expected.

G'Day mouser,

Somewhere, way back when the new DonationCoder forum software first when live, you mentioned that you would appreciate feedback on errors. Well unfortunately I just found one for you to investigate. It is not a biggie but more a convenience thing.

In the first post in this thread you state, on the last line of that post:-

Posted by: mouser

(remember, you can't post on any other day except when forum time, in upper-right corner of page, says it's a Friday).

Well, the software for the forum no longer displays the weekday in the upper-right corner of any page.

Just thought you might like to cover all bases, so to speak. It can be a bit mystifying as to what day it actually is in you locale, Re: The Central Time Zone requirement to actually be the day in effect, so showing that information would be a boon if possible (I bet it used to be there!).

NOTE: I currently don't have any gadgets to enthuse over, but some day... you never know.

Cheers, MikleB

Zounds... There it is... Complete 'forum time' with the relevant day  included, must be something to do wih those magic fingers you possess mouser. How do you does it? The mind fairly boggles. :-*

It just makes post midnight forum browsing after a frothy one, or two, much simpler.

Cheers, MikleB

@holt:
I need some real paper book gift suggestions for my wife, if anybody is game. I keep thinking along the lines of maybe an Almanac, but wouldn't know which edition; or maybe some kind of 'facts' consultation book. In real paper and ink. Any ideas? :)
Maybe you could give her a .PDF file with images of the cover and all the pages of an ACTUAL real hardcopy book, and tell her to print off any pages she particularly likes.  :-\
Just a thought, to save on paper.

Yes! And so it did!
I think you will find that it would be incomplete by definition.

If your wife enjoys facts, it's hard to beat The Engineer's Manual. Tables of everything: need the melting point of telluruim, the thermal conductivity of gutta percha, the weight of bee's wax, 25 pages of conversion factors from almost anything to almost anything else (gilberts/centimeter to ampere-turns/inch anyone?)

And the front half of the book will give you the math(algebra to vectors to hyperbolics) and formulae (mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, electrical, etc.) for which you can use all those data and conversions. Weir flow calculations? We got 'em.

Fun book, not lessened by often being useful. The link above will take you to an Amazon page where it's available.

I thought it was weekends only??

How about this Jemine Rechargeable Green Flashlight Super Bright Pointer Tactical Waterproof Torch High Lumens Light for Camping Hiking and Emergency?

I have had the cheapie green lasers ($15) for starwatching, the ones that screw apart in the middle and take AA batteries. They work but end up being flaky and breaking. This one is thicker and more sturdy, and is USB rechargeable, and is still a safe class IIIa (or 3R new system, <5mW) pointer. Comes with one of those diffractors that spreads the beam into a grid (which does not interest me). And it was ~$20us so not significantly more expensive.

SC_20200505_0656.pngGadget WEEKENDS

I have not yet tested its claim of waterproofness and have no plans to. :)

Woops, I neglected to read the Gadget WEEKENDS thread rules more closely, which I'll repost in lieu of my off-topic book inquiry;
(#1 thread post by Mouser)
begin Quote:
I propose we have a thread where we can recommend gadgets that we like, but I suggest we follow some strict rules to make things more interesting.

Here are the rules:

    1. You may ONLY post about ONE gadget per week, and only on a FRIDAY WEEKEND.
    2. Every gadget item post must include an attached image of the gadget.
    3. Every gadget item posted about should be for sale somewhere; you may include a purchase link with an affiliate/referral id.
    4. You must personally OWN the item you are posting about.
    5. The goal is to introduce gadget addicts to new discoveries.

NOTE: You can make posts on this thread on any day to discuss the items posted about by others - the rules and restriction above only apply to making new posts introducing new gadgets.

The first Gadget FRIDAY WEEKEND starts in 3 hours!
(remember, you can't post on any other day except when forum time, in upper-right corner of page, says it's a Friday).
close Quote.

I recently bought this piece of exercise equipment to use, while not leaving the house. It's ok for use while seated, but feels awkward when using it standing up, partly because of its short stride, and partly because of the angle of the pedals. It won't get your heart rate up there like going for a brisk walk will, but it does help to burn off some of the calories, without disturbing my downstairs neighbor. It didn't cost all that much and doesn't take up that much storage space.

I recently upgraded my laptop from a 2011 Lenovo Thinkpad x120 to a 2016 Lenovo Thinkpad x260, purchased on ebay for about $220.
I love the small form factor (12 inch screen) and the no-nonsense style of these little lightweight guys, and they can be found in abundance on ebay.  The older models are plenty good for me.
