Go Back
« on: June 14, 2012, 03:55 PM »
I would like a soft to put my cursor where I was ten minutes ago.

Not undoing
Not restoring
Not keylogger

Simply come back to a place.

Something like a history cursor.

Do you know soft for this ?

Don't know of anything extant for the desktop, but I've used breadcrumb navigation on several websites, so it should be something that AHK or AutoIt could handle  :-\.

do you just want to reposition the cursor relative to the screen, or relative to whatever window was active at the time?

2 remaining questions:
- Why should this happen (what's the 'workflow')?
- How should it be triggered? Keyboard, timer, system-event?

try this - Recursor

nothing fancy, it records the mouse cursor position every 5 seconds

Hotkey (Win + Space) moves the cursor to wherever it was 10 minutes ago (If it's been running for less than 10 minutes it does nothing)

trying . Win+space I have occupied with the application ReOpen.
It's the source file and can change the hotkey easily ?

Best regards

I did ask you about that, but you indicated that the timer was the critical issue (no mention of window states, or relative positioning), so...

you actually want something that will reinstate whatever the active window was at a user nominated time in the past, and reposition the mouse relative to that window?

I still have one question that hasn't been answered... and it's IMHO the first that should have been answered :-\
Please elaborate.

indeed - knowing what/how something is likely to be used can make a huge difference to the end solution

I want to know where was I a time ago. Completely.
If I was five minutes ago in a word document, in the page 6, go there.
if I was five minutes ago playing a music go there in the exact minute I was five minutes ago.
iF i was doing a critical or irrepetible task then show the moment before initiate the task. By example a security copy. I don't want position at the middle of the security copy and running.
Go back position in the past, but without giving possibility of really undoing or redoing in the middle of it. Is not Control+Z or Control+Y
Go back is contemplative.

Oh, you need complete time-tracking and reporting. I'm using the free version of ManicTime for that. I was pointed over there by a post in this forum, some time ago, and I've kept it running since then.
Works like a charm, non-intrusive, just what I need when I ask myself: What was I doing "yesterday between 13:00 and 13:30", or "today, 10 minutes ago"

I'll try. I download a version of ManicTime in 2009 January. I have problems with framework 3.5 . I observed is not portable at all.
I repeat today with more confidence.

Best Regards.

I will comment if is what I am looking for.

you still haven't advised what this is for or how/why you think you might be going to use it, but I'm pretty sure manic time won't do what you seem to be asking for...

If I understand it correctly then what you want is something that effectively takes a snapshot of your system state (ie active windows/applications, task status, etc) at predefined intervals, and gives you the option to go back to a nominated point in the past (ie active windows/applications, task status, etc).  This would effectively undo anything/and everything you might have done in the intervening period.

And if I understand it correctly then I suspect you're going to be sol (sadly, out of luck...)

Closest alternative I can think of off the top of my head would be to take a screenshot every 5 seconds or so, and while this wouldn't provide you with any sort of go back functionality, you would at least be able to see what you were doing x minutes ago...

Ouwww Happen again after the cleaning operation.
I have put the log.zip in the manictime forum
Perhaps I have to reinstall the software. I don't now. Better wait. The manicTime seems a prepared forum.
