I am going to start listing some of the forum mods we add to the site and tweak to give credit where credit is due.

12/9/11 - Improved custom code to report forum errors and alerts to automatically throttle emails in case of high volume (like forum server errors)
12/9/11 - Added a bunch of code to detect spam-like activity, require first-posters to prove humanness; now AUTOBANS users if they are clearly trying to spam their first post
2/27/11 - Added Countdown bbc mod by Hunter
2/14/11 - Added Previous and Next Links mod by gigitravels

2/14/11 - Added Go direct to moved topic mod by Kays
2/13/11 - Added mod to let you export your personal messages (modified to support export of outbox); thanks to SleePy's mod for SMF. (customized by mouserto export outbox too)
2/13/11 - Added mod to let you specify the reason for editing a post, shown as footnote; thanks to Nibogo's mod for SMF. (small customization by mouser)
2008 - Added Badge mod (coded by mouser)
2008 - Added Yearbook mod (coded by mouser)
2006 - Added biography mod by Bullcat Webhosting
2006 - Added bookmark mod by Leipe Po (customized by mouser)
2006 - Added trim url mod by KGIII
2006 - Added geshi code highlighting mod
2006 - Added ZillaRank custom search system (coded by DC member WordZilla)
2006 - Added Inline image attachment mod (coded by mouser)
2006 - Added DonationCredits system (coded by mouser)

This mod puts a nice little message above your pm index after you send a pm to someone. Just like the "Profile Updated" message.

Oh yes, that would make life much more enjoyable when browsing DC on a smartphone. The page numbers are really small when you try to hit them with your finger on the touchscreen

Something to better access DC on Android would be cool.

I found tapatalk which according to here supports SMF 1.1.11+ with custom modifications (to some extent). I'm not using tapatalk yet, so don't know if it's any good.

I've added code so that the Quick Reply Box now shows a warning when you are viewing an old topic, so that people will be a little more conscientious about reviving very old threads.

It's currently set to 90 days, but it's easy to change.

I've never understood what's wrong with reviving old threads. If your post is appropriate to the thread subject and the older discussion is useful context, then it makes more sense to post to an existing thread than make a new one in my view...

I don't think its that there is anything inherently bad with reviving an old thread..

My personal take is that the object is mainly to alert people that they are about to post in a thread where the original participants may have moved on long ago -- that the discussion they are replying to may contain out of date information and opinions, and that others on the forum are probably not following the thread the way they would a more recent thread.

So the warning is to catch the attention of the poster and give them an opportunity to re-frame their intended post in light of the fact that it's not currently an active discussion.

Yeah, I agree with the warning, just some forums have a "don't post in old threads, ever!" kind of thing going on. Hehe. I know that's not true here though, I see "necro thread revival" all the time.

I'm actually the opposite. Though sometimes it makes sense to post in the original thread, IMO, starting a new thread makes more sense most of the time because of the people moving on or forgetting about the conversation, or just a change in perspective since the original thread. Also, there might be some things in the old thread that aren't relevant anymore- especially fluff that sometimes gets added to threads. Just my opinion of course...

It's wonderful watching the new code catch and kill spam bots.
