Karen's Directory Printer - copy content of a directory to txt file or print it

Hi,

I couldn't find such a program quickly by searching the forums, so I used Google. I installed quite a few programs to try them, and the best one I found is Karen's Directory Printer. It was mentioned on the site before*, but with different descriptions.

I like that it's free and quite flexible, and most features are intuitively usable. It offers Windows explorer (right-click on menu) integration and you can either print the results or save it to a .txt file.

Just wanted to let you know about this.

I know, but not with a pretty good GUI, ready-made formatting, and Windows explorer integration!

Karen (of Karenware) has been around forever and has some really nicely written freeware apps on her site.  Good stuff.

A bit off topic but that reminded me of something.

Back in the day (the 1980's), I remember reading in a magazine that it was a good idea to print a list of all the files on your computer and put them on the wall for reference. Imagine doing that today!

I read in a review that it doesn't support subfolders (also, it looks very basic).

This is basically it:

@dir %1 /A /S > c:\dirListing.txt
@echo Opening c:\dirListing.txt in Notepad (Close notepad to delete file)
@notepad c:\dirListing.txt
@echo Deleting c:\dirListing.txt
@del c:\dirListing.txt
@pause

It sure is the same. 

But I didn't get it from that page, because mine has a "_" and a different location (not "C/WINDOWS/filelisting.bat", so where is it?), so someone has altered it for me.

You might want to cross-reference the thread Goodness! Is there NO Win utility to do "DIR /S/B C:\ZZZ\*.JPG > RESULT.TXT"?, specifically mouser's post LS - File List Generator (for Windows).  As LS is under 50k I've attached it below.

Wow - Karen's Directory Printer is still around and working on the latest OS's? Cool. I am using other means currently but this one got me through many times in the past.
