jroad's thread comparing bitmapped fonts got mentioned on frontpage of digg.com on feb.21 and it threw the server into a tizzy..

ps.i thought we bought an expensive dedicated server account to be able to handle such cased  :'(

the server itself was mostly online throughout but it looks like a small problem that caused the /tmp directory to switch out of world readable mode caused a cascase of problems whenever the mysql database engine needed to make a temp file, which triggered a whole days worth of troubles until it was found.  whether this is all going to happen the next time we hit some real traffic is anyone's guess, but if anyone knows another good dedicated server company with good knowledgable tech support, please let me know.

thanks everyone for being so patient..  now back to your regularly scheduled programming..

seems the server is still having some troubles.. i've been working witht he tech support people for the last day, constantly, on the problems, which they seem to be having a very hard time identifying and fixing.

just wanted to let you know i am working hard on this and we will get it sorted. hopefully when it's over we will have an even faster and better tuned server.  thanks for your understanding.

Haha!  ;D

Looks a bit fake to me (I *hope* it's fake!), the best part is when he says "I don't need help!" :D

I like the part where he gets the "esc" key from the floor. He only cares about that key because he needs it to the game :D
I'd like to understand what he says, but unfortunatelly it's german :(

hillarious, then tiresome, then funny again, then irritatingly fake, then hillarious again, etc.

shouting in german sounds great - doesn't even matter that i can't understand.

like mouser i've done that sort of thing for short periods - it doesn't take long to realise you are behaving irrationally and then calm down. now, that i think about it - the neighbours don't really talk to me except for a quick hello and goodbye - could this be the reason?

there's one way to know that that video is fake, and anyone who has been through this should be able to spot it..

where are the alternating stages of grief?

usually its the pure anger interspersed with almost crying and begging and pleading to god to put you out of your misery..

ha, ha, ha. absolutely true. well observed, mouser. (as i said elsewhere, though, i don't suffer from this kind of thing anymore - i obviously don't do enough with my computer to warrant it, or i must live a stress free existence.)

I've been real close to that myself . . . never over a game, and never to the point of speaking German . . . but . . . yeah.
