I ran across vender that is operating similar to Serial Sellers (Sales?) in that they are buying large quantities in bulk and selling individual applications.
I hesitate to recommend them at the moment but I have a CD for Win7 in the mail. I've been running the RC and it's rebooting every two hours........ until that CD gets here
The reason I called: I'm wondering how many people are interested in buying Win7 (any version) or any other software?
I told the guy on the phone that I placed the order with that if everything was legit and worked out OK that I might have some more customers for them. This would seem like a good time to do a little wheeling and dealing to maybe get a lower price or at least get free shipping. They are charging $10 US for the CD with free shipping, otherwise it's a download?? (BIG download)
My CD should arrive here early next week and I can poke it into this machine immediately so I can get more answers.
Post your name and what you want so I can cut and paste to develop a list, unless there's a better way to come up with a list?
I don't know if they will ship outside US but I can find out exactly what software they will have available and their prices.
I'll get back here early next week after I get Win7 installed.

I was thinking the same thing. Beware of people who claim they can "sell so low because we buy in bulk". If they are selling for a significantly lower amount than what your average online retailer will sell for I would always be wary and look up reviews at sites like resellerratings.com BEFORE buying.

At the risk of stating the obvious, why not just ask Microsoft if you're concerned?

A quick search on their website will point you to their licensing compliance and info contact page. A phone call or email with the details of the offer in question will bring a very quick response from them.

At the moment this deal is looking like a scam. I tried to get some info on shipping because it was taking so long and received an email last night (Saturday night) that the CD would be mailed "the first thing Monday morning" after having been told previously that it has already been shipped.
Odds are good that I've been "had".

Have to agree with others here... I really can't see this being legitamite. Kind of reminds me of Allofmp3 from a few years back. Someone trying to make money off pirated IP while hiding behind a veneer or respectability.

They put great offers in newsletter, in blog posts but eventually brain starts to work again and ooops. The guy who promoted discount MS products has like 200 posts on their forum. I am sure he had that planned since signing up. Building up some sort of reputation and then it comes Domain was registered 2 weeks before they thought fellow techies should know about gift shop. No one checked. Is a forum for IT people so direct contact with many potential customers. Clever. Porn and opportunity to save $$$ can make you go blind.

Talking to me Josh? Is in the link but I bet those pushing that site now wish they never did. Especially site SEO, heh. This is a site for IT pros not amateurs you know With 99.99% certainty fake site is offline btw, or almost. Good story since it shows those who should not know better not always do. Less IT knowledgeable or industry knowledgeable people will be even easier to trick.

Yeah, look out for that plastic card. Making a fake payment setup could be part of the plan.

Cheapest legitimate(ish) licenses of Win7 I've found are at Royal Discount, for around $80 for an OEM "branded" upgrade x64 Home Premium version. Questionable how legit it is to install this on a different brand system, or where they got the "spare" discs in the first place. I've ordered several of them, they turn up so far as Dell or HP "recovery" discs. Interesting. Not sure exactly how this is working, but so far no credit card issues, Royal Discount is reputable(ish), and the discs are real, physical items that arrived at my door step, install, and pass activation with MS. So far, so good.

I have also run across sellers selling Microsoft products for a song. I have contacted Microsoft and been told that some of the keys may be legitimate if they come from volume licensing partners. But none of the sites, selling cheap product keys, I have visited, seems to be a volume licensing partner  Microsoft wanted the names of the sites to check but I refused for obvious reasons. It's true that an activable product key is not always legal - my experience with Norton Internet Security tells me that.

providing proof of that status to this site will get you discounts.
There prices vary from negligible discount to extreme.
I bought Windows 7 for $60 from them when our Tech Dept. sent a letter he received with my name on it as staff.

People who patronize sites like these don't care if the key is 100% legal. They don't care about supporting Microsoft, taking the pride in doing the right thing, or anything like that. All these people care about is a key that will get them past the security & DRM checks. As long as it works they're happy.

I guess it does give you plausable deniability: You could just claim you thought it was legitimate and that you're the victim of a scam. But other than that, if you really don't care about it being legitimate/legal, what's the point of giving your payment/personal info to these shady "dealers"?

Now that I've said that, it would be just my luck that one of these days I'll truly be taken by a scam and then someone will see that I posted this and I'll go to jail.

True, but there are those who don't have the skills to find such things. There's also a group of people who are capable, but they'd rather spend a little money to be assured of having a genuine key that will stay validated through any changes in protection (constant WGA updates, for example.).

Then again, IIRC, Microsoft gave you a legit copy if you could provide the name/details of the "store" from which you bought your not-quite-kosher Windows - so you could still end up with a cheap legit Windows product
