Christmas Gift Ideas Under $25... Make a List!

[TAF2000]

Just thought I would start a list.

I just got several 16gb flash drives on ebay for less than $15 each.

Much cheaper than local, so I thought I would share.  Down-side... the shipping will take 3 weeks.  Hubby will be so happy when they get here.

(And they are tiny little things, too.  Maybe I am just not up to date on electronics, but it continues to shock me at how tiny flash-storage space is getting.)

So this got me to thinking... what other gift gadgets are out there under $25 (US equivelant)?

[housetier]

I write poems, they just cost a few pennies for pretty-printing and the recipients usually are move to tears :-)

A DonationCoder gift membership?

Last year I had a photograph of us together printed onto real canvas. The company I used (http://www.updone.com/ ) was remarkably cheap, the two-foot-wide picture only cost in the neighborhood of $25, but the framing was a good deal more. The quality was very good.

If you're giving someone storage media like a flash drive, why don't you give them a bonus gift (free!) by filling it up with photo files?

Homemade gifts are definitely far superior to anything store bought.

[mouser]

maybe nudone could auction off a few hand drawn cody pics (and pics from his 2 other art blogs) this holiday season to raise some money for his big drinking nights out

Oh yeah?  Make me a Lambo then

I like the idea of home-made gifts, but if I have to give my dad or brother-in-law one more scarf, I think they will revolt.  LOL

I like the poem idea for my hubby, but most of my poems start with "There once was a man from Nantuckett...."

(1) Home made cookies
(2) Framed children's art
(3) Something cool from CafePress
(4) A cool hemp shopping bag from Reusablebags.com (these are seriously strong)

That's actually a pretty good idea. But don't just stop there. Also fill it up with DonationCoder software and some PortableApps.

Not a bad idea at all.  He will be using them for work, so he doesn't need much in the way of home pics and such, but some useful little apps may just be what he needs.

Let me suggest looking at

• winPenPack for a whole suite of portable apps, ready to install;
• or for good individual apps, Gizmo has a list of good ones,
• there's a whole catalog at http://portablefreeware.com/ .

Real baked goods!

My grandmother used to make a particularly good gingerbread cake that I inherited the recipe for. When I ask my friends and family what they'd like for Christmas, "Yer Grandma's Gingerbread" is usually one of the first things they put on their list. The second favorite is a batch of "Church Lady" Snickerdoodle cookies.

Our kitchen resembles a small bakery the week before the holidays.

(P.S. Happy to share both recipes if anyone's interested. PM me if you want them.)

This is 5 bucks over the limit, but it's much too good to ignore:

Just to summarize our jointly authored limerick, which is now complete. I made one edit in the interest of continuity (I hope no one minds). So, to the best of my knowledge, I proudly present DC's first co-authored work of poetry:

There once was a man from Nantuckett
Who kept all of his change in a bucket?
he went out to sea...
When he turned twenty-three...
and caught a King penguin, to pluck it.

I think that this deserves a thread of its own...

Not exactly how the poem I know ends... LOL... but much more family friendly.

I'm a little cheap in general so don't tell any of my friends but on my credit card, I get points that I accumilate over the year. It's enough points to get music CD's from time to time, or a few free movie passes which is entrance for 2 with a popcorn and 2 soft drinks. It covers a few buddies for Christmas anyways and I just realized the point thing a few months ago so it's a few years of points accumilated I had no idea of.

[TAF2000]

Wow.  Maybe I should check out my credit card features.  Maybe I have points or something I don't know about.
