The Best Contact Management Software

I am asking for input from my fellow members. 

I am wondering what you would recommend as the best freeware contact management system.  I only want a simple to use 'database' to track friends, business associates and to a limited extent, customers. 

I am not looking for anything as robust as ACT or integrated like Outlook.  I just need something simple to track names, phone numbers, email addresses and physical addresses.

Any thought?

I find it rather slowish to enter/modify contacts with GMail.
Prefer doing it with Thunderbird and upload contact database to a specially created IMAP folder on GMail with an extension called Addressbook Synchronizer.

You could have a look at Yeah Write  http://www.yeahwrite.com/

 although it is really a word processor it does have a very easy address book in it.

It operates under a  drawer and tab system very fast loading it gives you a opportunity to test as a free edition (some limitations) or fully fledged edition for 15 days (trial) or purchase a license.

Can operate on a usb stick.

Suggest you have a look at it
the tab system lends you to have different addresss books and they are all there ready to click on.

You can remove the excess tabs that you don’t want (todo lists etc).     Can email from it but not receive emails.

only a 1 mb download.
No bugs last update was in 2002 very sound and I have had no hassles.

Just a reminder that they offer 250 max. contacts at free level.

Many have made Chaos Manager as their PIM of choice.

This is my kind of thread, I am obsessed with finding the perfect addressbook software and have been like this for years.  I've realized that there is no perfect or even really good option out there.  The three best ones I have come across are Handy Addressbook, A-book, and Addza.  Now, if Addza had a phone dialer, it would almost be perfect, but it doesn't and hasn't been updated in two years, although it started out very promising.  If you don't need a dialer, get Addza, it's pretty nice.  The other two I mentioned are very good also.  I am currently using Handy Addressbook.  I predict that I will eventually move all of my contacts into SQLNotes.
