I use The Bat! Pro on my main laptop, but now have a budget ultraportable (Xidu Tour Pro) as a back-up.  It only has a 128Gb SSD (though it has a slot for a second one, which I haven't looked into).  I'm looking for a compact, lightweight email client for it.  A quick search turns up TheBat! as "lightweight", but recent versions have jumped from about a 40Mb download to 120Mb.  I could use The Bat! Voyager on a USB stick as the Pro license covers this, but I'm wondering if there are other recommendations.  I briefly tried i.Scribe / InScribe and didn't get on very well with it, but might take another look.  Otherwise, the commonest suggestions seem to all be ports from Unix/Linux:

Is there anything else I should consider, please?

Hi ConstanceJill.
Thanks for your help  in the end I didnt need to try what you suggested although I think it would have solved the problem as well.
After dwelling on it for half a day I came to the conclusion that there must be another program Im running that has a stopwatch function embedded in it.
I am running White Tigers program T-Clock -Redux  .A quick look in the context menu is a Stopwatch function .
I disabled the T-Clock Redux and the problem went away.
Further tracking the stopwatch function in T-Clock found that a hotkey had been set at Ctrl+S and when this was disabled and or set to another hotkey the problem remained solved.
So Ctrl+S hotkey was the culprit.
Maybe BGM can see why it is clashing in TextWorx
Thaks again ConstanceJill for your inspiration

Hi there.

You may try to identify that process when it's running using, from the command line:
tasklist /fi "windowtitle eq Stopwatch"

It should give you the actual process name, which you'd then be able to find in the task manager, from where you should have the opportunity to open the file's location (using the right click menu on the process).

Whether or not it matches the "notepad.exe" or "charmap.exe" name, we'll still have some sort of clue. ( → If it doesn't, then maybe there is a registry entry somewhere that points to it, similar to how typing "pbrush" executes MSPaint on Windows 7, even though the actual executable's name is mspaint.exe and there is no such file as pbrush.exe on a default Windows 7 install… it's just there as some kind of compatibility setting.)
Thanks I will give it a try later on . I’m interested as to what’s causing the stopwatch to appear because it doesn’t appear in / from any other program when I use the save or save as options.

My program does not invoke any stopwatch application.  Textworx has a command to invoke charmap and notepad, but not stopwatch.
Well some how it is doing it when I use the save options in TextWorx .

Hi BGM
Using 1.2 version
Attached is screenshot of computer specs.  and stopwatch that appears. Did a search for a stopwatch exe on the computer nothing came up
Doesn't seem to hang.

I'm sorry, nogojoe, but I can't figure out what you are trying to explain.  You say you did a "search for stopwatch exe" on the computer...  this thread is for TextWorx, not for Shorthand.  Shorthand is the program for searching files (using the Everything program underneath) maybe you've posted in the wrong thread.  TextWorx does not have any file-searching function.
Sorry what I really meant that I did a search on my computer to see if the was a stopwatch exe that your program TextWorx may be invoking the stopwatch as shown on the image I posted.

Hi BGM
May have found a bug

When I hit Win.K and then on the menu that comes up I select editor  then hit save a stopwatch appears.
this also comes up with the normal saving of an item in editor
It also comes up as well if I hit save on the toolbar.

Curious if anyone else gets the following error when the 'background' reg is used, and attempting to create date-time folder:

"explorer.exe

This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action.
(...etc)."

I've been trying to research it, but seem to arrive at dead ends.

getting the same message Win XP 3

Hi there, fellow coders !

I'm Yan, developer of "StackNotes".
It's a tiny, fast and reliable notebook for Windows.
Programming language is iBasic pro, entirely built upon system API and common controls

Hi Yan
Handy little program   The only problem I find I cannot directly paste from my clipboard program (I have tried two programs). You have to do a ctrl-v.  or right click-paste to enter data.
Other than that it seems quite handy and quick .

Anand,

As a challenge to myself and in order to add the ability to move and size Note windows in addition to coloring and text size, I decided to write my own program. Similar to yours, only one note is displayed at a time related to the active window. I call it Relevant Notes and it stores all data into one INI file in the same directory. I know you are busy with real work so this was an opportunity for me to be creative.

The blog page for the program is Relevant Notes

Nice work there Mike have it working well on the computer .  any chance of doing something like this for an Ipad

General Software Discussion / Re: Resource Scheduler
« on: January 11, 2018, 03:14 AM »
Hi BGM,
been reading through your postings,  have got a few questions
1.
 each altar how many masses are scheduled per day and at what times  (ie does one altar say has mass at every 45 mins for 4 times a day or is it normally 1 mass per chapel per day.)

2. roughly how many priests do have "on the books" to say mass    like wise how many altar servers are on call at any one time.  Are there set priests there everyday.

3. do you require the daily or weekly timesheets to be retained for posterity.

4 Do you have a Apple tablet (ipad). just looking at an app that I use that could forfil most of your needs.
It will still need a spreadsheet program to print off weekly or monthly assignments.

it has an ability to clone whatever you setup the app to suit your needs both with data and without data but the format is retained as you have set it up. (To send to other people)

It uses a dropdown  menu for you to select what item you require from pre entered list. and has the ability to allow mutiple choices  say 2 or three altarservers or priests  no problem at all.

It has an infinite date entry .  you can configure a year ahead if you want to.

It can be configured to what your reqirements are.

5     I realise that you are keen to share with others a web program and I am no coder and simply dont know how much is involved to produce a web program to suit your needs.

Drawback    its an Apple Ipad app.

Hi Brother ,I am happy to donate NZ$100.00 towards a coder to help  produce an app to suit exactly what you want.
There are some pretty skilled coders Skwire etc  that should implement what you want.

@orbis: Uploaded a new version with corrected timing.

Thanks Skommel there must be some issue with my computer.

Hi Skommel,

@orbis: I use a timer set to 60 seconds, so it can be off by almost a minute. It's just to be as easy on the CPU as possible, but I can easily change it.

@nogojoe: So the test works, but when you click Run, there's no sound?

Yes that's correct.

21
Uploaded the script, orbis.
Hi Skommel
I am having trouble getting this to work properly .
I get the sound files to work ok on the ui interface however won't chime on the hour through my speakers.
Going on the interface if I activate play say at 3.30 actual time it chimes 3 gongs .If I activate play at 11.30 it chimes 11 gongs .(that is even with another wav. file showing on the interface ).However if I let it work through the normal hours it doesnt chime at all . I am running Win XP 3.  Hope you or anybody can help.
Regards nogojoe .

Can you report this to them as a false positive?
:)
Hi Tomos
Have sent them an incident report with the offending exe
nogojoe

23
my antivirus keeps on neutalizing the chime exe. Scans the exe file ok but when I try to run to install the exe the antivirus neutralises it.
what is your anti-virus?
Can you report this to them as a false positive?

It's Panda antivirus.

24
:) Added a master volume control, orbis, I'll see if I can add a more targeted volume solution. Also, I found the error in the hourly files code, nogojoe, and I added a checkbox to choose between the play options.

Hi Skommel,
Can you post the new update as a ahk script my antivirus keeps on neutralizing the chime exe. Scans the exe file ok but when I try to run to install the exe the antivirus neutralises it. glad to see that you have found the error in the code but it frustrating not being able to check it out.

regards nogojoe

25
Added an option to play sound files 0.wav, 1.wav... 23.wav on the hour if they exist in the program's folder, mouser. :)

Or just 0 through 12, it checks if files >12 exists, and if not it chooses the earlier ones.
Hi Skommel

I have downloaded wav files and have renamed them 0.wav, 1.wav... 23.wav as you have suggested but I am having no luck with them chiming on the hour I have the wav files in the same folder as the program.
I am running the AHK setup as the exe setup brings up a virus warning and quarantines the the exe.

it plays the chimes if you use play in the options setup .
This is the ini file :
[Settings]
interval=60
chime=Sound + Voice
silent1h=00
silent1m=00
silent2h=00
silent2m=00
soundfile=C:\Program Files\Chime\6.wav
repeat=1
voice=Microsoft Sam
voicetest=The time is <Time1>. Today is <Time2>.
time1=H:mm
time2=dddd d. MMMM yyyy
replace1a=:00
replace1b=o'clock
replace2a=.
replace2b=of
hidden=0
