Counter-Strike Fun
« on: October 18, 2007, 12:13 AM »
Wordzilla recently got a server that he's using for a dedicated DC IRC server, as well as some other things. One of those other things is Counter-Strike. The game is free and Wordzilla has the download on his server. Come to the IRC channel or send Wordzilla a PM for information on where to download the client as well as the password to join the servers.

Once you get it installed, launch the game and click Find Servers, then go to the Favorites tab and select Add Server. Enter in the following details:

As you can see, there are actually twelve different maps being hosted. Each one will need to be entered manually. Here's the list of all current maps being hosted.

We've had some fun already playing the game. We've had mouser, hamradio, scancode, jgpaiva, Josh, mitzevo, and others play. Come join the fun! Below are some screenshots.

You were warned! It's me, waiting to ambush!

For those of you interested, the way we got Cody and my Deozaan Inside logo in the game was through using a custom decal. The instructions are kind of puzzling at first, but we just used a program called Easy Decal to convert an image to a decal. Then you need to rename the decal to tempdecal.wad and put it in your cstrike directory, overwriting any other tempdecal.wad you may have in there. But you're not finished. This is the most important part. You need to make the tempdecal.wad read-only so it isn't overwritten when you start the game. And there you have it!

EDIT: Added link to IRC channel.

Nice job Deozaan! Thanks for the intro.

btw, it's super easy to join our IRC channel (even if you are not familiar with IRC stuff) - simple visit:

or http://chat.codytalk.net/ if the above one doesn't work.

BUMP! Yea, I know, 11 months old - whatever. :P

I recently got CS:S 1.7 (not CS 1.7, but CS: Source 1.7), no steam, and it owns CS 1.6.

My sister is IN LOVE with it... she wanted to go against me earlier this evening, here she was about a second after she planted the bomb...

I might still have CS installed. But not the Source version. If I still have it, it's the version mentioned at the beginning of this thread.

IMO Source is much better than 1.6. Graphics, AI, and gameplay have all gotten a boost.

I can upload my CS:S installer if you send me an IM on Xfire (or a PM, that works too) :)

Naturally. But as far as I knew, the CS 1.6 is free and CS:Source isn't. Is that incorrect?

I'll see about getting a server up this weekend? School is being a bear on me lately... 2 failing test grades in 2 classes =  :( :o  :-[ :tellme: :tellme: :tellme:

And CS:S is not free, but I do have modified copies. *Cough*

(But it is only like $20 on Steam)

brandon -- concentrate on your school work and take a break from games and DC.
This is the #1 rule of DC: No one is allowed to let their work or school suffer here.

I've pulled my math grade up back to a B and my Biology is at a 66.6 (bad number, in more than 1 way), and rising (turned in a big lab, expecting a mid C this week) :D

A little CS:S won't hurt
