paid: both versions.

I might have to give the paid version of Titanium a try then. other than it's backup features, is it worth buying rom toolbox?

77
A while back when I first got my otg cable, I was able to view my usb drive in twrp. I never tried to actually set it as my backup location tho. I assume it might work. BTW, are you using the free version of Titanium and rom toolbox, or the pro versions?

78
I use twrp. Is there a way to backup to a usb drive (via an OTG cable) since the N5 doesn't have external storage? The only problem with a nandroid backup is that I want to be able to "copy" all my apps and data to a different rom, which I can't do with a nandroid backup. I was reading that titanium backup can restore from twrp backups. I suppose if I can ever get titanium to actually backup the data, it might be an option.

I'm looking for an app or method to backup both my apps, and my app data. I have a nexus 5, so I don't have an sd card option to backup to. I do however has stickmount, so I could backup to a usb drive. Though, it would be nice if I had the option to backup to a folder on my google drive. I have tried various apps, and they all seem to only know how to backup just the app, and not its data. (meaning, I lose all my progress on any games I have.) I've heard Titanium backup is supposed to be able to backup both the apps, and their data, but when I tried it, it only backed up the apps, and then when I went to restore my backup, it just installed each app one by one, and without the app's data.

Does anyone know of a good free (or free with premium option) app that will actually backup my apps and their data? My phone is rooted, is there some folder that has all of my apps' data that I can just backup?

Pontiac Vibe (used, circa 2005):
 (see attachment in previous post)

Would not recommend anything made by Pontiac. I drive a Pontiac Grand am, and little things are always falling off it. (luckily it still runs perfectly though). My girlfriend drives a Pontiac Grand Prix, and she has similar problems with it.

It did not work. It saw one giant monitor, and only let me select one image. :(

Can I use this with nvidia surround? I've got 3 1080p monitors setup as one giant display.

Living Room / Re: Dead Drops - Release your inner P2P spy! :D

The idea behind it is pretty cool. Kind of like digital geocaching. The problem that I see with it, is there isn't anything but trust and morals to stop someone from putting a virus on one of the dead drops. Yeah, someone who knows a decent amount about tech would know not to open an exe they found on one of the drops, but the average Joe that only knows how to surf the web and check their email, wouldn't know not to open an exe.

General Software Discussion / Re: typing in web browser makes it freeze
« on: September 12, 2013, 11:26 PM »
I don't know that the issue was caused by desktopheap. I had chrome closed, and just IE open, and when I tried to type something, ie would lock up. Just IE, I could still do anything else on the computer perfectly fine. I also later found out that if I tried to log into steam or the origin client, the same thing would happen. (both chrome and ie were closed when trying this.) I have no clue what the problem was, but I can't do anymore testing to attempt to fix it. I already used driveimage xml to restore my computer back to a clean install. everything works smoothly now. (other than a bug with the newest version of Logitech's gaming software which turns my keyboard and mouse (which isn't even a logitech mouse) into strobe lights)

watch this episode of hak5. Darren does a segment on pagekite. I'd take the time to figure out the exact time that the segment starts, but my computer has borked bits right now.
I believe he starts talking about it at around 5:30ish

youtube if you prefer that. again, starts at about 5:30ish

I guess it could be possible that I have to much junk running on my computerin the background. I tend to do that, wich is why I had to reinstall windows every couple of months on my old computer. My current computer has 8 gigs of ram

Yeah, rebooted into safemode. The event viewer wasnt help at all, unless I was looking in the wrong spot. It only told me that chrome and ie stopped Interacting with windows and was closed. Updating my gfx drivers didnt do anything either.

I uninstalled flash because I read that was an issue for someone, and it still happened. I also ran ie with addons disabled (is that the same as safe mode?) And it still didnt work. I ran sfc because it was another recommended solution regarding the error apphangb1 which is what the error is that I get when chrome and ie crash. It found borked files, but couldnt fix them, and didnt run when I rebooted. I did however manage to get the problem to go away while in safemode (still having it while running windows normally tho)

Ive been running this version of chrome for a little while now, and it just started happening. I looked under the chrome flags page for hardware aceleration, but I couldnt really find anything. I almost think it might not be chrome or ie, because when I tried to log into my origin account, it froze as soon as I typed one letter.

General Software Discussion / typing in web browser makes it freeze
« on: September 11, 2013, 05:03 PM »
Im running windows 7 x64. I have ie10 and chrome 29.0.1547.66 m. Ive scanned my computer with mse and malwarebytes, neither found anything. Whenever I try to type anything into chrome's adress bar, or in a text box in chrome or ie, the browser will lock up, and I have to force close it. I can however type in ie's address bar without it locking up, but if I try to type in a text box on a webpage, it locks up. I figured, maybe it was my keyboard, so I unplugged it, and tryed using my drawing tablet with the onscreen keyboard. Same result. I dont have any other browsers, so I cant try them, but I can type in windows Explorer and notepad perfectly fine. Any idea what is causing this? (Ps. Typing all this on an android tablet takes forever)

Edit: upon further inspection, I have figured out that it isnt just text boxes, I just have to have the web browser the active window, and as soon as I hit anything on my keyboard, it locks up

Non-Windows Software / Re: Looking for android budget app

YNAB sounds pretty cool. I don't currently have to pay monthly bills other than netflix and my phone bill, but I may have to check it out if I can ever find a job that pays enough for me to move out on my own.

I thought I would really like GnuCash, because I have heard of it, but didn't know that there was a windows version. I installed it, and really enjoyed the desktop version, but then I installed the android version, and as far as I could tell, the only thing I can import from the desktop version, is the account names. I couldn't get it to import the transactions. Didn't really like that, so I did some more looking, and ran across CalendarBudget. It's online only, and completely manual. It doesn't have an actual android app, but the mobile version of the website looks pretty cool, and is very easy to use, so I just created a widget from a chrome bookmark of the website. I think I found a winner!

Non-Windows Software / ANDROID: Looking for android budget app
« on: August 30, 2013, 12:43 AM »
I'm looking for a simple money tracking app for android. I don't need it to have a bunch of fancy features. Pretty much all I am looking for is a digital version of those things you get with your checkbook that has a spot for description, expense, income, and new balance. I want to be able to be at walmart, or a fast food joint, and be able to just open the app, and input what I purchased, and how much it was, and then the app will subtract that from my total. I could also do the same for income (for example, a paycheck). It would then show me a list of all my transactions, and how much money I currently have in the bank. I am not looking for something like mint.com where It "attempts" (and for me, fails) to automagically read my online banking account, and add my transactions for me. It has to be manual. Don't want any automatic stuff that likes to break itself.(I'm talking to you mint.com!) A huge plus for me would be the ability to either A. view/edit all this from a website/program on my computer (syncing the app and program together somehow, dropbox maybe?), or B. backup the app's database to the cloud or somewhere not on my phone.(again maybe dropbox/google drive).

Right now I have a google doc spreadsheet that I manually add everything to. I can access this via the google drive app on my phone, and also via the google drive website on my computer. This works ok, but if I have to add/remove a transaction somewhere in the middle, I have to do a bunch of editing to get it all correct and what not. (yeah, I could use equations(I think that is what they are called?) to automatically update the total, but I am too lazy to do that.)

I would rather not have to pay for the app, and while not completely necessary, it would be nice if the app didn't have ads. (don't go out of your way to look for an ad free app is what I mean here)

I haven't used one personally, but if you want sound and video samples, here are two videos from a youtuber I regularly watch.
this one is inside
this one is outside

7stacks is similar to standalone stack. I didn't check if it has a 64 bit version, or can launch 64 bit programs. I really like bins, but I don't have a job, so I can't buy any software, otherwise I would so buy bins. I also used to dock my icons folder to my taskbar, I just wanted something that looked cooler.

Edit:Well dang! I don't know how they did it, but 7stacks is a 32 bit program, but unlike standalone stack, it can open 64 bit programs. I can't remember if it could several months ago when I used it the first time. I do however know that neither 7stacks or standalone stack had the ability to browse folders within the program itself. Now I can get rid of miniWE and standalone stack.

98
I did find a program called MiniWE that is 64 bit, but it constantly runs, so it shows up in the alt-tab menu. If I can't find anything else that is better, I guess I will just have to stick with miniwe.

99
Is this the StandaloneStack you mean?

http://www.chrisnsof....com/standalonestack

Also here is a manual way to pin a folder.
If this is what you want.

Yes, that is the standalonestack I was talking about. Your link to pinning folders to the taskbar is nothing like what I was wanting. I want a program that will display the contents of a folder in a little popup above the pinned program icon on the taskbar, and if you click on a folder inside of this popup, instead of it just opening the folder in the explorer, it would show the contents in the popup with a button to go back to the previous folder. Standalonestack does this exactly like I am wanting, but it is only a 32 bit program, so I can't have it run 64 bit programs.

General Software Discussion / 64 bit Standalone Stack or alternative?
« on: February 18, 2013, 05:09 PM »
I don't know when they added the feature, because I haven't used standalone stack in a long time, but I love how when you click on a folder inside of it, it shows the contents of the folder along with a go back button. It used to just open the folder in explorer. The problem is that Standalone Stack can't open 64 bit programs (even if you tell it to run a shortcut to a 64 bit program). Does anyone know of a 64 bit program (or a 32 bit program that by some voodoo magic supports 64 bit programs) that pins to the windows 7 taskbar, will display the contents of a folder, and display the contents of sub-folders (rather than just open the folder in explorer)
