Rainmeter 1.2 Full Release available

GnometerPreviewSM'.jpg
After almost 6 months of development and beta testing we have released Rainmeter 1.2.

Many improvements and additions have been made which make this a great upgrade for all users of Rainmeter.

    * Rainmeter now includes a new default suite of skins: Gnometer by Poiru. Gnometer is a colorful and exciting alternative to the default Enigma suite. It contains skins which show off with all the information you could want on your desktop, and is fully configurable by the user with an easy to use settings tool.

    * Rainmeter 1.2 introduces Rainstaller and the .rmskin format. This utility makes it much easier to distribute and install skins and suites. Rainstaller allows skinners to include addons, fonts and themes along with their skins in a single .rmskin package. Skins and suites are then installed by the user with just a double click or directly from a download site in their browser.

    * Rainmeter 1.2 has a host of improvements to better support Windows 7. Fully configurable support for muiltiple monitors has been added, so you can position and save your Rainmeter setup in your multiple monitor environment. Rainmeter 1.2 now supports having your skins stay on the screen if desired when Windows 7's "Show Desktop" is used.

SIGIL, free ePub editor

jzWyI.png
I wanted to test Sigil, but felt even more unsure than normal, so I searched our forum for Sigil, and found nothing. Then I searched for epub editor and finally for ebook editor, but still found nothing! This is quite a surprise to me; I really expected someone had said something about these subjects. But it seems not.

Well, I still know very little about Sigil, but I can tell that it is an ePub ebook editor, for all major operating systems. It is free. And it is merely in version 0.2 ...

I don't understand what the 'mobile' talk is about, as I don't have any such device.

Sigil is a multi-platform WYSIWYG ebook editor. It is designed to edit books in ePub format.

Now what does it have to offer...

    * Free and open source software under GPLv3
    * Multi-platform: runs on Windows, Linux and Mac
    * Full Unicode support: everything you see in Sigil is in UTF-16
    * Full EPUB spec support
    * WYSIWYG editing

    * Multiple Views: Book View, Code View and Split View
    * Metadata editor with full support for all possible metadata entries (more than 200) with full descriptions for each
    * Table Of Contents editor
    * Multi-level TOC support
    * Book View fully supports the display of any XHTML document possible under the OPS spec

    * SVG support
    * Basic XPGT support
    * Advanced automatic conversion of all imported documents to Unicode
    * Currently imports TXT, HTML and EPUB files; more will be added with time
    * Embedded HTML Tidy; all imported documents are thoroughly cleaned; changing views cleans the document so no matter how much you screw up your code, it will fix it (usually)

    * An actually usable user interface
    * Native C++ application
    * Bugs :)
    * And a lot more...

Second Wind - beautiful student animation

I found this small animated short from a blog post by another aspiring animation student. It's really sweet, sad and beautiful. I couldn't help but share it. Enjoy

I'd love to hear what people think the ending means..

Coding Snack: Shortcut Creator

blog clipart
I would like to select with a click a folder, file, program ; and applying a key combination over that selection automatically create a shortkey (direct access to that folder, file, program)  in another folder or place. Usually in the windows desktop.

Better is the key combination invokes a selection table with my shortcuts definible favorite folders.

I am trying to go faster that the usual way :

over the file , click right button - send to - windows desktop (shortcut)

Best Regards

iaza: Online Image Editor/Convertor

iaza_sshot_10_06_2010_(001).png
iaza - this is a free service that aims "to make the conversion and manipulation of digital images as easy as possible". the options are divided into 3 main categories (but uses 4 columns): Convert & Enhance, Edit and Create and within that. there are a myriad of sub-options which can searched using the browser's Ctrl+F function. what makes it cool is that each step of editing/manipulating can be saved by right-clicking on the image and just use the browser's back to undo any changes.

i just tried out a few images and things couldn't be easier. i used an image i found online, to crop, add a transparency layer, and finally convert into png. the results are quite impressive even though it's missing a "Convert To ICO" option. so, if you're in a hurry, you can give this online tool a spin.
