Here's a Best of July list you won't find just anywhere by Smashing Magazine, centered primarily around graphics, web design, and cool web stuff. This article alone on Data Visualization Approaches is enough to get you started.

Holy crap! Zaine you gorgeous beast! I should have clicked on your data visualization link first - I've been grappling with figuring out how to visualize my PhD data for about three days and you've just dropped a wonderful overview into my lap  :-*

Darwin, I guess you're already familliar with Edward Tufte's work on data visualization, etc?
A few ref. :
- Images and quantities, evidence and narrative
- The visual display of quantitative information
- Envisioning information

Very interesting stuff I'll be using (partly...) for my thesis.

Wow! What an interesting way to present data. Too bad a 3D bar chart is too complex for people. The stuff you find on the internet never ceases to amaze me Zaine. Thanks for your numerous contributions.
