Of course, the more I play with it the more amazing it becomes:

QTTabbar.pngQuizo QTTabbar

Hovering the mouse cursor over a folder that contains files and/or subfolders results in a list of links to those files or subfolders popping up. Subfolders that contain items do the same, and so on, and so on... Little details like this, which seem like nothing, make all the difference. It's very early days (minutes) yet, but I can see that discovering all that these add-ins have to offer is going to be enjoyable (and eye opening).

I noticed that

1) QtTabBar slows down the time taken to open Windows Explorer a bit. Usually, when I press Windows Key + E, Explorer jumps out instantly, nearly as fast as notepad.

2) QTTabBar does not work if you open 'My Computer' and then open the tree view on the left pane to enter Windows Explorer mode. You have to open Windows Explorer directly to enable QTTabBar.

Besides that, its quite a good program. I enjoyed many of its features, but then went back to using xplorer2.

I saw this released at Deviantart.com. I'm not sure why the guy put X's on the tabs, as they don't actually function. I noticed a few people were confused about that.

The toolbar is Styler, not the toolbar available in QT TabBar.

As far as I could understand (or not), this Leopard takes that you have WindowBlinds.

Yes, the theme is WB. The toolbar is Styler. The QT tabs he made to match the Tiger theme.

Very nice window explorer addons from this person! very nice indeed.  8)

Edit: Wow, double click on background goes up a dir! I'm in love.. been loving this feature since I started using xplorer², then today I started playing with these QT addons (or addins? :P), and double clicked on the background in windows explorer from my x² habbits, and.. AWESOME!!  :-*

I installed QT Tab Bar...but for the life of me cannot get it to work.

The install process runs through fine, tells me the program has installed successfully, I should log off to enable QT Tab Bar.

I reboot, open a folder like the install help tells me to, right click on toolbar...and there's nothing there which says "QT Tab Bar" or "QT Tab Standard Buttons" to place a check on. It's just the standard menu. 'View' - 'Toolbars' doesn't show any QT-anything either.

After reading this page, I tried to enable it in Windows Explorer (not just any folder window)...no luck.

I have both .NETframework 2.0 and 3.0 installed, and I have administrator status on my laptop.

Interestingly, the 'QT Tab Desktop Tool' does show us a Taskbar Toolbar. Haven't been able to figure out quite what it does though. My specific interest is in getting the QT Tabbar to work.

Does anyone have any ideas? I've tried everything I could think of...would appreciate any help.

If you have a copy of one of those programs you can use to register DLL's, I would suggest that you start out by navigating to the %Programs% > QT Tabbar > Plugins > File Tools / FolderButton / Memo / ViewModeButton / Window Manager -folders, and try to (re-) register all of the DLLs.

Are you running XP?

---
Edit: the taskbar icon is to be right-clicked (not that it will do you any good until you persuade QT into working..):

Thanks for the quick response.

Sorry, should have given details about the OS...I'm running XP Pro SP2.

Here's the kicker -- I don't seem to have any 'QT TabBar' folder in my Program Files folder (even though the program states it's installed fine)!! Any idea what's going on here?

About the taskbar icon -- yeah, I'd right clicked it and checked out that menu, but like you said, doesn't do much as of now.

If the QT folder is not present in the default %Programs% directory, the installation must have created another directory, starting from C:\ - otherwise there were no installation at all. Well, "installation" is of course not the right word; QT will merely unpack and register. Maybe you should first Search your XP for new files.

Followed your advice and did a search for new files.

It creates a folder at the following location:

C:\WINDOWS\assembly\temp\W8HQZ9IR0A

The folder W8HQZ9IR0A has the qttabbar.dll file. When I try to register it using regsvr32 from the Run box, here's the error I get:

"C:\WINDOWS\assembly\temp\W8HQZ9IR0A\qttabbar.dll was loaded, but the DLLRegisterServer entry point was not found

This file cannot be registered"

Any ideas?

Correction (re my previous post): QTTabBar creates a folder at the following location --

"C:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL\QTTabBar\1.0.0.0__78a0cde69b47ca25". This folder has the qttabbar.dll file.

However, when I try to register it, I get a similar error (as above), i.e. "....but the DLLRegisterServer entry point was not found

This file cannot be registered"

Yes, I have had that message many times as well. Not just when trying to install Quizo, but in general. When it comes to MY computer, I know the reason is that my pc is unstable. Why you recieve the same message, I cannot know. But one thing is, that I expect you clicked "open" when you started downloading the QT file - that is why it is hidden somewhere strange, I would say. Please download a new file and click "save" - and save it in %Programs%. Only then, you can db'click (unpack) the file.

Thanks for the reply...but that isn't the problem, since I always download and save the file to my 'Downloads' folder, then extract it, and then run the setup.

New QTTabBar version 1.2.1.3 (2008-1-11)

It is more stable, I think, at least on my (unstable) XP.

This is the reason that I was cured of my thirst for file managers... if I can just use explorer, then why do I need another... now if someone would just come up with an explorer extension that let you have dual pane view...

I *think* I read sometime that you do need 3rd party app to do that, the very base of explorer.exe is built in a way that makes dual pane very tough to make useful/responsive. I might be fooled by my memory though.

I love this software, the only thing I would want in addition is that QTAddressbar actually did something when you just type stuff and hit enter, now it does nothing, but I'd like to see either open default browser with google search for entered term, or regular computer search, or even a launch-bar functionality - as long as its *something* - all other aspects of the app that I can think of are already implemented  8) (yes I did post this request on their site)
