A new name
« on: July 31, 2005, 06:52 AM »
i know it's stupid but i always find myself motivated to work on programs when they have a good name..
Clipboard Help and Spell needs a new name, since its going to be as much about note taking as clipboard and spelling.

suggestions for a new name?

ClippyNote ?

ClipIt?
EasyClip?

Why does it have to have the word "clip" in its name? You could call it Globulator, or Fantastabolic Paster, the kids will love it. :P

yeah if it is a notes/db tool then 'CLIP' might be misleading..
hard to think of a name that captures everything :)

the key requirement for a new name is that when you type it into google you get less than 10 hits.
clipnote doesn't survive this test unfortunately.

ClipCaptor and Clipsuite however sound quite promising to me..

SuperJotter that I mentioned above only gets one Google Hit (and that's the one above  ;))

Glad to see this thread -- CHS as an acronym isn't bad, though it says nothing about what it does. Clipboard Help & Spell on the other hand is a bit too straight forward and uninspired ;)

From this thread, I liked "Jack of all Clipboards", ClipSuit and ClipSweet.

"Yet Another ClipBoard Extender" (YACE) -- heh, if you have a southern drawl, it's a bit like yes. "Yace, yace, more . . . clips" ;)

ClipFever
SnippetSnatcher (Ungh)
Mary Poppin's Bag (Terrible, yes, I know . . . but CHS is bottomless after all )
ClipRight (Surprisingly, this doesn't seem to be in use . . .)

"The Marsupial" -- Animal names have always been popular-- "The Bat", "Firefox", "Panther".  Marsupial, perhaps too subtly, hints at that storage pouch that goes everywhere you do (if you're a marsupial, anyway)

Hmmm.  I'm trying to decide if that criteria is a good thing or a bad thing?  It cuts both ways.

ClipNspell - I like this because the spell feature is its best feature.
ClipJuggler - Emphasizes the merge & clip indexing features, which is important.

suggestion from my daughter:

clip-a-tron (this gets a lot of 'tron' movie related hits on google)

Clipatron  (gets no google hits)

(btw: she liked the Fantastabolic Paster idea  :D)

I like clipatron :)
although the patron part is ugly...
ClipCaptor sounds good.

How about breaking out the clip-XXX thing.
memento *reference to the movie of this guy who had no short-term memory/-* and variations could be interesting...
