Over at Programming Forums their post editor is WYSIWYG so technically you could you it for writing post for other forums, just turn off the WYSIWYG at the end and copy and paste the bb code. I'm interested myself to hear other suggestions.

If it going to be WYSIWYG, they it need not be BBC underneath. It only need be something that the forum accepts. That might be HTML.

And are you speaking in general, for all forums, or specifically for DC's forums?

In general. I'm thinking something like what live writer does for blog posts.

thanks lanux, I saw FASS (never tried)
It looks like it gives you the interface that any website gives you with the advantage of being able to compose offline and preview the post.

But it won't make posting faster (my main goal). I think!

nice find lanux - that could actually come in quite handy, especially if you are writing a long post and are afraid the browser might crash on you.

WYSIWYG bbcode/html editor (or Word macro)
« Reply #8 on: September 02, 2009, 04:58 AM »
Hi @all,

I was going to come back on this topic in order to see if there is any news on a WYSIWYG bbcode editor.

Actually what I'm looking for would be a very simple editor like FASS that however additionally a) allows to edit in WYSIWYG mode, AND that b) can output simple HTML as well.

Even better would be to use MS Word (shudder) for WYSIWYG composing and in the end convert the document to clean and simple html or bbcode at the touch of a (macro) button!

Any ideas whether this is possible, or whether something similar already exists...?

Thanks already,
Cheers David.P

Big thumbs up for BBCEditor.

maybe it's because the thread was from 2006 and BBCEditor hasn't been written yet.. :)

WYSIWYG bbcode editor / Clean Word HTML Clutter
« Reply #13 on: September 03, 2009, 04:30 AM »
Thanks for pointing to BBCEditor! This looks like a great little tool.

However, my favourite solution still would be to compose posts in MS Word and then export/copy to bbcode and/or to clean html. Strange that there still seems to be no tool or Word macro that can do this from within Word.

While looking for a tool to clean up the html code clutter produced by Word, I finally came across the Microsoft Office HTML Filter which does a really good job on this, if anyone is interested.

However, I'm still looking for the Word addon/macro solution that would be my favourite.

Cheers David.P
