I made a demo screencast movie showing off a new feature of ScreenshotCaptor designed to make it easier to post good pictures to a forum post.

This demo also shows how to use the simple web tempate preset text on this forum for making good posts about websites.

Watch the movie here (7mb):

updated to v2.12.02 - continuing to try to perfect scrolling window capture.
(ps. a hint - make sure your cursor isn't in an input field when you trigger scrolling window cap).

I like your program very much. But I do experience problems when catching with autoscroll function on browsers with the new beta 2.12.02. The program seems only to capture the top part of the window. I tried both firefox and IE. They had slight different problems, but they both only catches the top part. Thank you for your time.

hi bbhenry,

here' is one thing i've discovered - first click in the background of the browser before doing the final ctrl+click, and make sure your cursor is not in an input field at the time of capture.

here's another trick, i'm very curious to hear if this help.  instead of hitting ctrl+shift+clickmouse to capture, just do shift+RIGHTCTRLKEY which avoids having to use the mouse.  see if that helps.

Wow -- very impressive feature! Nice job.

Should we post bug reports here? (If any exist, of course. Hmph.)  :P

I found it to be a very helpful demo illustrating both the posting methodology and the power of the thumbnail capture capability.  I couldn't find it on the SC webpage but I think it would be good to add it there as well.

Thanks for the ability to copy screenshot path to clipboard. It would be also very helpful to be able to copy path to clipboard on capture (as in Thumbnail Maker) - i.e. to have new option in Preferences On capture tab. This would be especially useful for adding screenshots to web applications - you could take screenshot and then immediatelly paste image path in web form input field.

The copy path to clipboard is a great addition -- thanks!

Hey, that text scraping feature -- would it be possible to implement a pure scrape mode, so I could scrape that information without capturing the image to my hard drive?

-- Btw, a few people on the Eets forum are using this App, now :)

text scraper isn't all that magical, but you can scrape text without capturing screenshot.
Select a windows capture, then select the object with text you want to scrape and click the little gears icon and you'll get a preview of the text that can be scraped if any, and a menu item to scrape it to clipboard.

try it on an about box to get a feel for it.

cool regarding eets :) :)

Updated to v2.18.01 - notably the scrolling capture is improved.

Ok I put up a brand new BETA 2.20.00.

I expect to add some more stuff soon but I was dying to get this new version up because it includes a really great new feature (in my opinion), inspired by requests on this forum.  You can now choose to display a quick post-capture popup dialog after a capture.  This resizable dialog will let you quickly preview screenshots and decide whether to save, discard, print, perform clipboard operations, and more without ever opening up the main Screenshot Captor Window.

scpopup.png

Extremely convenient if you want to discard most screenshots you take, or just use it to print, copy to clipboard, etc.

Hope you all like it.  Suggestions please!

Note1: you select to display the popup dialog either from the tray menu near top, or options dialog on the On Capture tab.

Note2: you can of course just hit the LETTER corresponding to your choice rather than using the mouse to click buttons.

Note3: you can resize the dialog; it should remember it's size between sessions.

YES!

This feature looks awesome (still downloading, no playing yet).  My screenshot directory is horribly cluttered.  I often snap 3 or 4 times when capturing something -- adjusting this or that and am terrible about cleaning up afterwards.  This should be killer.

Sorry, what is this? An preview without saving?
That's what i want a long time ago.
But i want have this in SC himself, not in an extra window.

Where do you 'store' this preview pic? TEMP? RAM?
Why can this not be done with SC window self?

And this buttons in the new preview window
are also in the SC window, till the "Discard"-Button.
So what is the benefit????

Hmm, also i like such an preview and this discard feature,
but an extra window is (for me) senseless.
It's an extra step with an extra click. For documentation i do often
a many shots and this extra window would disturb me.
But saving every shot automaticly to disc disturbs me also, 'cos it cost so much time.

The solution might be to have the preview respond to ESC for discard and ENTER for keep (or whatever). Maybe it does that already, haven't tried it yet.
