Samsung J5 and free memory in the phone memory
« on: October 13, 2020, 05:56 AM »
I don't understand.
I have less apps than in my other mobile Samsung J3 and less space.
I have examined one by one the folder in the phone folder and only the whatsapp weigths about 1.50 GB. the rest less than 1 MB .
But only 890 MB available of 10.8 GB !!!!
Is there hidden folders ?
How can I solve my problem ?

Best Regards

Check (and empty) the application-caches (can be deleted without harm to the workings of an app), depending on the adaptions of Samsung to Android (I don't own Samsung phones), that should be available in the menus of the phone, somewhere.

do they have different versions of android? That could explain the newer one having less space. What does it have, only 16GB?

Deleting the application-data is not very useful, you would have to log in to accounts anew, and set up configuration again, etc., and after doing that the (nearly) same amount of storage is used...

Best way to save storage space is to remove apps you don't need.

Install Google Files from the Play Store:
https://play.google....droid.apps.nbu.files

It'll tell you how much 'junk' can possibly be removed and/or what is using up space, (apps, documents, images, etc, etc).

Make sure you know exactly what is going to get removed before doing it if you do.

I am investigating again and again. I usually uninstall apps .
All my mobiles have android 9
I have learned to see this...
All my mobiles has the same internal memory : 16 GB
I have learned to see and understand that in android I can't see a lot of things i am used to see when exploring with windows.
But I have learned the operating system occupy abotu 5 GB... In the configuration I can see.
I have learnet the space occupy by the apps. In the configuration I can see this too....

So the mistery comes until I observ this.

In my main mobile (the J5) I have a huge whatsapp account of 2.5 GB to 3.0 GB of occupied space, while in the other two mobiles this don't happen.

That explain I have more apps installed in J3 than in J5, but less space in this last one.
So gain space in whatsapp may be important.

I have a good friend of mine who is very fond of beautiful girls. And so do I. I usually don't send images or videos to anyone, except my own photos and images. I have learned to configurate manually downloading videos. My friend send me often videos of 10 or more MB. Obviously we can tell anyone don't send me photos or videos. I have observed some pals only send and never read nothing. Sometimes finally I make the decision to block them.

Is a good decision too is the person resend all about covid. I have my own information sources and only when I want to see about that. We need protect our health.

With this method  I nearly finish my problem.

Yes Ath !
I have a lot of apps deactivated in the J5 : excel, facebook, powerpoint, word.
So I activate again and delete the data. I don't use those apps in android. So I don't suffer anymore.
With this measure I am plenty of space again   :-* :P

Have a look at the whatsapp settings / storage usage:
you can delete all messages from a particular user or group. This may be helpful. 4wd's recommendation is (as usual) very helpful
