That looks correct, minus the fucked-up layout, but that's entirely my fault. Hmm.
Anything in your error console?

Fascinating. It seems to ignore the request parameters entirely.

Which buttons have you tried?

When loading http://localhost:8888/ those GET statements appear and of course the page loaded in the browser is the ""success": false ..." page

When pressing upload and then download the page in the browser doesn't change and this happens:

6.JPGNANY 2018 Release (preliminary alpha-or-so): ymarks

So I guess something is happening/working but the browser page is not exactly?

Ah, lovely.  8)

In this case: You're doing it wrong.  :-[
You were never meant to "visit" the localhost page - that's just the backend.
I should probably add some kind of "informational HTML page" here.

The log looks as if it works. (I'll probably remove debug output some time later.)

I updated the .exe. No more visible server window.
You'll have to exit the server with the "quit server" button from within the extension now.  8)

I'll document that in the README in the repo.

Working on Chrome support, I - at least - closed the last server TODO. The server seems to compile fine on FreeBSD.  :)

Compatibility my ass. I started writing a separate Chrome extension now.  :-\
State of things: Chrome does not give a fuck.

I'll work on it.

I uploaded a first Chrome extension to the ymarks site. Enjoy or don't.
Totally untested.

Note that Firefox's special folders are probably different from Chrome's. You might run into some weirdness yet.

Update: The Android version is postponed until some time in 2018, I probably won't do it in Java.

I was informed by someone who actually wants to use ymarks  that I forgot to pack the winsqlite.dll file and some people seem to require it. I'll make a new archive in the evening (CET).

YMarks was mentioned on GHacks as an alternative to XMarks as it's being phased out.

Ah, that explains the support request on Twitter.

edit:

A browser extension is only available for Google Chrome, but it may work in Firefox as well.

Well, they almost got it right.  ;D

I have set this up on Firefox (still the Japanese super toilet of web browsers despite a few mistakes) after backing up my bookmarks
I am not sure if I want to do this yet but is there any server UI to put the SQLite database in a specific folder (in my case a folder that syncs to Dropbox)? I'm running the server locally to one of my computers.

Side Note: Avast told me it was safe but dropped it in the litter box or whatever they call it anyway (Virus Chest). Yet when I went to the Virus Chest to release it, nothing was there. Got it sorted, though (added an exclusion to the folder I extracted it to and rebooted).

No, there is no UI for that. You can change it in the constants.h file if you wish. Or use hardlinks.

The spirit of open etc.:
I got a pull request, fixing all known problems with both the Firefox and the Chrome versions. Ha!

FWIW, I've been meaning to set aside some time to give this a go.

No need to hurry!

Actually, I do, because I really like for my bookmarks to be synced between browsers and computers (and haven't been able to since XMarks was shut down).  I've tried a couple of other solutions but none have worked consistently, so I'm holding out hope for ymarks.  =]

The problem now with ymarks is the fact that Chrome is shutting down inline extension installs :(
