Bookmarking teamwork

Hi all,

I wonder if you could recommend some bookmarking web app, browser addon or program to make a newsletter like the Super-sized Newsletter in a collaborative way

0 replies ;D i'll fix that

bookmarks.google.com is simple and handy, you can tag and add descriptions, and the export to html is fine, the problem is that it does not allow invite others to collaborate afaik, so i've been looking for a social bookmarking service.

What I like about bookmarkos.com is the OS user interface idea, html export, import html generated from the main bookmarks managers, no ads.. Importing from google's bookmarks is nice as it creates a folder for every tag.
However it has a big problem, general sorting is a payware feature and while you can add tags, there is no way to sort by them

Right now, it appears to be on sale for only $12/year.  Exceedingly cheap and worth the investment if it does what you want.

I'll think of hiring this service though i'm not sure to need it yet.
It's strange that you can add tags for no use

Recently discovered this tool. You can add URL's from scratch, or use the bookmarklet for fast processing.
Everything you 'handpicked' can be send out as newsletter to your subscribers.. Screenshots below: first one
is the options menu on the handpick site. Second screenshot is how my mailing looks.

Create categorized bookmark tables and share boards with others. Below two fantastic examples:

Zeef reminded me of Papaly, another service I've been using for some time now.. Check out some of my boards:
One about electronic music scene, and another on drug-related topics:

Ta! Not sure most of these if any are collaborative and allow html export.
Ideally it should be a clone of google's bookmarks plus having collaborative features.

Handpick, zeef and hitabs look useful..
hitabs: no html export!, nice sorting features, no tags but folders, links descriptions clearly visible, didnt checked yet but seems collaborative?
zeef: not sure if supports import/export, no descriptions for the links, long link titles are stripped

Papaly has an export to .html option. But not very usefull collaborative..
But i've got a lot more options somewhere in my linking toolbox. I'll let you know if I find something more useful again

https://konektom.org/
Konektom.org is a collaborative bookmarking service named after the connectome — the brain's wiring diagram. Once you start bookmarking with Konektom.org you will get more URLs recommended based on the bookmarks you create.

We should definitly check out this one

konektom.org
Wow! Nice import/export (a must as many of these services disappear over time), tag sorting, visible descriptions by clicking on every link, relate links with other links both manually and automatically by the system (no collaborative in the sense of inviting people but in relating your content with tags from other anonymous users)

dont forget that one can be creative by combining several freemium services to get more features in practice

The one that I use is pinboard.in.  It's only as social as you want it to be, which is my primary reason for using it.  And it has an RSS feed, just for you, or for you+your network.

Diigo.com looks very cool
the free version is full-featured with a limit of 500 bookmarks and 100 annotations which may be enough to make one newsletter. For the next letter, just remove all your bookmarks ;) will this be allowed? haven't checked it out yet

will this be possible? haven't checked it out yet

It's also an idea to export the last newsletter to .html and host it somewhere else. Put a link in future newsletters to that host and you
will have 499 url's left every time you start over.
[/color]

no collaborative in the sense of inviting people but in relating your content with tags from other anonymous users

Yeah I misunderstood the meaning of collaborative there, but I've been digging a bit deeper meanwhile in how it could
work in collab-way by using tags.. and I find it very interesting so far. Going to build a package of keywords/tags and
will try some other tools as well to see how that works out. But thats more an secondary path- I don't think such system
would work when sending out newslettes.

Some more to check out- if you like. I'm already on it  :D

All in all,

Bookmarkos.com seems quite unique as for providing collaboration for free, in the sense of inviting by email a private team of persons so they can add and edit bookmarks of your collection. Everything is private by default.

Another service is Bookmax.net. Inviting a private team to edit your collection is a payware feature.

Another one which may have this feature for free with limitations seems to be Diigo.com

Finally there is an interesting addon for Chrome called Gmailmarks.
Allows to tag a page with your gmail account. You can always share these "bookmarks" by email

A good test would be to set up a bookmark resource page in many of these tools, and then share the public url. With a few categories and notes on some of the bookmarks, when possible. Mulitple tabbed (or linked in some way) pages would be a nice test too (e.g. can you move from one page to another a whole group?)

Papaly does allow an invite by email and your own workcenter can mix public and private.  The concern is that they recently had a contraction, the future may not be as vibrant as the past, but they do seem to be one of the best (Draggo and a couple of others that look good I have not compared, I probably have a few to add on my next post, one listed its competitors.)

Also what is the quickest method to set up?  Some of these tools like Papaly have a Firefox extension for drag and drop, but I find it might be quicker to work with cut-and-paste of the url and creating a new entry.

In general, the quickest personal way is to use Roomy Bookmarks on Firefox and drop one after another into a folder. A similar method involves Onetab, but that is less navigable.  An interesting question would be quickly setting up a section in a bookmark folder, then opening up all those urls on one page, and then importing them into the preferred tool above.  Economy of movement.

I'll plan on setting up a Papaly page.  Xerpi is one not mentioned, but it is somewhat dormant, its plus is that you can fit much more on a page and, like Papaly (and many others) has the ability to move around individual urls and and groups by drag and drop.  However, since I could not find a way to change passwords, I can not recommend Xerpi.

My search was more from the perspective of start pages as well as bookmarks.  So that includes start.me, Netvibes, Symbaloo, Protopages, Ighome, etc.

Some that I came across that may apply here that were not above in the thread:

Curabase - https://www.curabase...eb/bookmark-managers
Note this is their bookmark managers page

43 Marks - http://43marks.com/
Revisit - https://revisit.io/
Visualizeus - http://vi.sualize.us/
Del.icio.us - https://del.icio.us/

A few more might be in here:

I've skimmed through your suggestions and don't think they fit what I asked for
though there are a couple which seem very cool and useful
dragdis.com

The specialty element is attaching word processer style text to export to a newsletter?  Whether the newsletter highlights one or many?  Is that the attempt?

the attempt would be bookmarking a forum while browsing threads and then export to html as a base to elaborate a newsletter. Ideally you could rearrange descriptions along with their tags. Some of these tools also have tools to drag around annotations.
A few of forum members would collaborate to build the bookmarks collection

Sounds good.

Here is a board I put together for a couple of friends who like natural pain relief salves and stuff like that.  Still a WIP.  And no notes yet.

Bookmarklets!
As an simple yet powerfull extension could be considered using on various platforms. Like for instance... When bookmarkletting a bit on the Papaly  site, it can easily create beautiful (html) listings/overview and so on...

Screenshot_3.jpgBookmarking teamwork

Screenshot_1.jpgBookmarking teamwork

Screenshot_2.jpgBookmarking teamwork

I've used the 'Grablinks bookmarklet' but there are tons of other variations and you can build an more personized one
without to much hassle..

javascript:(function(){var%20p=document.createElement("p");p.innerHTML="<strong>Loading%E2%80%A6</strong>";p.id="loadingp";p.style.padding="20px";p.style.background="#fff";p.style.left="20px";p.style.top=0;p.style.position="fixed";p.style.zIndex="9999999";p.style.opacity=".85";document.body.appendChild(p);document.body.appendChild(document.createElement("script")).src="//d2z4mgf8zqkbu2.cloudfront.net/bookmarklets/grablinks.js?x="+(Math.random());})();

Just create a new bookmark on your firefox bookmarks bar and copy the code from above into the location field. Now just hit the
newly created button on a website of choice and TADA  :D

Hi n8wachT. Thanks for the tip! It's useful to grab links from any site.

If the bookmark service can export to html, you just have to export and then add a bit of css to make the newsletter.
The advantage is that descriptions follow bookmark links nicely. Cheers

Also have this ... well, awesome bookmark tool to add. But you might not like the looks of it. Personally I like the oldskool approach Linkli's using, but maybe .. that particular detail make this tool awesome for some, and awfull for others. Let's try anyway. Adding links works the bookmarklet way (see previous reply's). They provide an easy ready to use button you only have to drag to where you like it to be. Now whenever you find a website interesting enough to bookmark just press the button- select a subcategory (optional) and hit it. Like most of the bookmark services work, only.. this one works blazing fast, you can almost feel it.
http://linkli.st/n8wachT

Screenshot_5.jpgBookmarking teamwork

Screenshot_6.jpgBookmarking teamwork

A handy extra is it gives you a .rss feed of your Linkli's (or other Linkli's of interest)..

Screenshot_8.jpgBookmarking teamwork

Final tip: browse what is already there. There are some very fanatic folks who have done a lot of bookmarking work before us.
Main portal to crawl a bit around is the public list. From there you'll find your way..

Re: Bookmarking teamwork

When I was looking up the newsletter idea I ran into a number of curation tools.  I'll start a new Papaly (other tools to be considered) with what I found. Right now, I am mostly adding what might be new stuff, not the stuff above, or the general start page stuff.  Spending an hour on this, checking sites and all.

Bookmarking, Curation, Start Pages
https://papaly.com/a/pyMb

If the page is helpful I can give contributors access, who can add notes etc.
What is lacking is an immediate link to a notes page, like a specialized Evernote adjunct.  Some of the other tools might be stronger there (and pictures).

It was very helpful to first use the RoomyBookmarks system with Firefox.  Then I simply open up the whole folder and bring them in to Papaly (or any solid page-maker) one at a time.  The two-step works great.
