It appears that the bots have a new approach.  They put links in responses to posts.  In some cases, even creating the topic, and then responding with links.

What do we want to do about this new threat?

That isn't a new threat is it? It's just another thing spammers have always done.  It just requires a little more thought to figure out if they are a spammer, but the punishment is the same: delete and ban :)

But they go directly to malware or malware sites.  Seems like the others that have appeared have been more obvious in their phrasing.  And all of the posts by these bots are not obvious, and a bit more innocuous.

Yeah it may require a little more careful watching on our part, but these things seem to come in waves.. they try an approach for a while until they come to accept that someone is paying attention and killing their posts before they take root, and then they die off until the next round.
